Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Diesel Technician A to join our team in Pembroke Pines, FL. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel trucks and refuse/recycling equipment, including hydraulic, electrical, brake, suspension, transmission, and engine systems.
The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic abilities, hands-on technical experience, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment
- Perform maintenance and repairs on Mack, Autocar, IHC, Heil, McNeilus, and related fleet vehicles
- Inspect and repair engines, drivetrains, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulics, and electrical components
- Utilize onboard vehicle computer systems and diagnostic tools to identify failure modes and complete repairs
- Conduct vehicle safety inspections and preventative maintenance services
- Perform welding and fabrication work as needed
- Complete repair orders and maintenance documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant work environment
- Support and mentor other technicians while promoting safe and efficient work practices
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience repairing medium- and heavy-duty diesel vehicles
- Experience with refuse or recycling fleet equipment preferred
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension, brake, and electrical systems
- Ability to diagnose and repair drivetrain and engine issues independently
- Experience performing structural damage assessments and repair evaluations
- Ability to read and utilize factory service manuals and diagnostic software
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
- CDL Class B preferred or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
- Ability to obtain 7 ASE Certifications (or equivalent) within 36 months
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and fleet maintenance regulations
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and fleet maintenance systems

Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in company-sponsored training and development programs as assigned
- Stay current with industry technology, equipment, and maintenance practices relevant to the position
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA regulations
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or management team

- Ability to push, pull, and maneuver heavy objects and equipment as required
- Ability to perform repetitive movements including bending, kneeling, reaching overhead, and twisting throughout the workday
- Ability to work in varying weather and environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and outdoor roadside service situations when necessary
Work Environment
This position operates in both indoor and outdoor environments, including a fleet maintenance shop setting with exposure to noise, grease, moving vehicles, mechanical equipment, and changing weather conditions. Safety equipment and PPE are provided and required at all times while performing job duties.
