GFT Infrastructure Inc. is searching for a Substation Designer in Marlton, NJ.

This Designer will be responsible for the Protection & Controls design of high voltage substation projects ranging from 69kV through 500kV.

What will you do:

  • Under supervision of senior engineers, develop Substation Protection & Controls drawings including, Oneline, AC Schematics, DC Schematics & wirings.
  • Learn & Perform AC/DC study for Substations under the supervision and mentorship of Senior engineers.
  • Under supervision of senior engineers, design Aux AC Power Systems, DC Power Systems, SCADA and Communications Systems & Relay Panel Layouts for new and existing substations.
  • Prepare Tripping table, following client's guidelines
  • Prepare Cable Schedule/List based on P&C design.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines for collecting input required for P&C design.
  • Learn and perform basic engineering calculations related to engineering deliverables on projects
  • Follow specific instructions of supervisor or engineers to perform the more complex design assignments requiring application of standard design principles and practices
  • Use standard CAD tools to create drawings and related deliverables
  • Prepare and study technical specifications of electrical systems, to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements
  • Travel to job sites for job assessment and data gathering as needed. Return to the office with sufficient field notes to complete project design
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Education | Experience:

What you will Bring:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • EIT or ability to obtain within 6-12 months of hire.
  • Commitment to driving strong business performance, continuous improvement, and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience in AUTOCAD & MicroStation will be considered as an asset.
  • Expertise in the use of computer-aided drafting tools such as AutoCAD or MicroStation is an asset.
  • Learn and implement National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), National Electrical Code (NEC), Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and Design Guide for Rural Substations
  • Ability to learn about how to review and coordinate vendor submittals to ensure compliance with design parameters.
  • Ability to learn and develop a complete set of construction documents for P&C deliverables.
  • Knowledge of substation voltages, MV, HV, EHV
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Experience in the energy industry or consulting services environment
  • Skilled in 3D Modeling
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $72,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
