Five 8-hr shifts between 2:30-11pm, Monday through Friday with rotating weekends, holidays and call shared among all staff.

Run and troubleshoot multiple complex instrumentations related to chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation laboratory testing.

Maintenance and quality control on all complex instrumentation including Sysmex XN-10 CBC analyzers, Siemens Clinitek urinalysis analyzers, chemistry analyzers, rapid tests, and other critical and complex lab equipment.

Identify issues with the testing systems and appropriately address those issues to ensure accuracy of patient results.

Monitor in-lab pending to ensure completion in a timely manner of all received samples. Provide proper testing and results of all testing.

Identify presence of abnormal cells and send results for further evaluation to hematopathologist, if needed.

Identify established delta checks and troubleshoot alarms with nursing staff. Identify quantity and quality of samples based on visual inspection or varying lab results.

Recognize when samples are to be rejected due to interfering substances and consult with pathologist when needed.

Evaluate the results regarding the integrity of the specimens received for testing to ensure the validity of the results for best patient care.

Provide proper testing and results of all Hematology department tests to include CBC, Manual and Automated differentials, ESR, Urinalysis testing, hCG, and Wet Preps.

Provide proper testing and results of all Coagulation department tests to include: Protime, Partial Thromboplastin (aPTT), and D-Dimer.

Provide proper testing and results of all chemistry tests to include Complete chemistry profiles, Influenza A and B testing, RSV testing, and Covid Antigen testing.

Provide proper testing and results of Blood bank and Transfusion department test to include: ABO and Rh typing, Antibody screening, Compatibility test, Coomb's test. Carry out proper storage and issuance of blood and blood components Ensure proper patient identification and blood sample collection for pre- transfusion procedures, maintaining detailed records.

Regularly monitor blood product inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies are available. Maintain accurate records of blood product usage and expiration dates.

Maintain proper storage of blood products, ensuring appropriate temperature control.

Perform phlebotomy procedures including venous and capillary blood collection on patients, from pediatric to geriatric.

Perform therapeutic phlebotomy according to protocol. Adhere to the correct order of draw for blood collection tubes to prevent contamination.

Collect other types of specimens, such as urine or swabs. Collect urine samples for drug testing under both federal and non-federal regulations.

Position requires Bachelor of Science or equivalent-level degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry or closely related fields, and 2 years of experience as a Medical Technologist performing the duties of this position.

Also required Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) or (AMT) Certification or equivalent.
