Job Summary

The Service Technician Apprentice - CRFES (Commercial Refrigeration & Restaurant Equipment) assists service technicians in the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of commercial cooking, refrigeration, and HVAC systems-including both hot- and cold-side equipment. Responsibilities include hands-on disassembly/reassembly, diagnostic testing, and equipment setup under supervision. Operates tools and gauges proficiently, supports repair activities, and participates in on-call rotations. Also responsible for basic material purchasing, vehicle and tool upkeep, and adherence to company safety and driving policies.


Essential Duties

  • Assist service technicians in hands-on disassembly and reassembly of industrial or commercial cooking, refrigeration, and HVAC equipment for troubleshooting and planned maintenance. Participate in diagnosing refrigeration performance through observation, testing, and set-up as required by trade/position. Collaborate with technicians in executing repairs as necessary, demonstrating proficiency in operating hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment.
  • Collaborate in technician on-call/stand-by rotation as per business unit policies and procedures.
  • Purchases materials and issues purchase order numbers to suppliers.
  • Safely drives a motor vehicle and trailer, follows requirements of company vehicle driving policy and adheres to all company safety requirements.
  • Maintains equipment, vehicle, and tools.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED. Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field is preferred. Craft training is preferred.

Maintains required registrations, professional licenses and/or certifications as required by the position.

Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing app-based technology for efficient task completion.

Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, gauges and measuring equipment.

Must have basic math skills.

Exhibit a professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills and exceptional written and oral communication abilities.

Must be punctual and dependable.

Demonstrate strong business ethics at all times.

Maintain a consistently professional appearance.
