SUMMARY Function as a beginning level professional accountant assisting in month end close, plant cost accounting, invoice coding, accrual entries, journal entries, account reconciliations and monthly reports to management. This position is assumed have little experience when hired and training is required to become proficient in SAP and BPC as well as Excel and other MS software. ACCOUNTING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform General ledger accounting for Pipe & Fittings as directed by the supervisor or the senior accountant.
- Assist in month-end close as directed by Senior & Supervisor accountants with accruals, preparing journal entries, entering journal entries, and sales cut off as required.
- Assist in coding invoices for the plants as required.
- Assist in reconciliation of appropriate accounts at the end of each month and provides adequate explanation and documentation of reconciling items.
- Become proficient in the use of SAP, BPC, Excel and other necessary software as required for the job.
- Prepare, or help to prepare, closing related reports, receiving of goods and services, transportation related accruals, regular plant accruals, GRIR information and other standard close reports or entries.
- After closing, assists in the preparation of post-closing reports and account reconciliations under the guidance from the senior accountant.
- Work with plant personnel in a professional manner and maintain a good relationship with plant personnel in order to obtain required information and solve problems.
- Perform functions in SAP to receive goods, invoice sales, consume additives, adjust inventory and other functions as needed and direct by senior accountants and supervisors.
- Maintain an attitude of continuous learning and continuous improvement in the work that is done. Work as an effective team member with the rest of the department to get all required work completed.

- Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.
- Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned by senior accountants, supervisors or Manager/Controller.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- 1 to 3 years of accounting experience required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
