Application Programmer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Engineer - Unified Metadata Store for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Pennington, NJ, Plano, TX and Charlotte, NC. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

We are seeking a results-driven Senior Engineer to lead the hands-on development and delivery of a Unified Metadata Store, unifying metadata from both mainframe and distributed systems. This platform will physically host distributed-side metadata and virtually federate mainframe metadata, providing a single authoritative source for metadata across the enterprise and enabling seamless integration with an enterprise AI platform.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end development and implementation of the Unified Metadata Store, with a strong focus on delivering working solutions
• Develop solutions to physically store distributed-side metadata and virtually federate mainframe metadata, ensuring a unified, accessible metadata layer
• Integrate the meta data store with the enterprise AI platform
• Contribute to architectural decisions and ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and extensible

Requirements:

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, metadata management, or related fields, with expertise in both mainframe and distributed (non-mainframe) environments
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale metadata repositories, data catalogs, or data virtualization platforms
• Solid understanding of metadata standards, data governance, and data integration best practices
• Strong background in cloud-native architectures, data lake/lakehouse platforms, and modern data stack technologies
• Experience contributing to and understanding architectural strategies for AI/ML integration
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
• Strong programming skills in Java (Spring Boot) and Python
• Experience with metadata management tools (e.g., Collibra, Erwin, or similar)
• Hands-on experience with data virtualization platforms (e.g., Denodo or equivalent)
• API development and interface design (RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger)
• Cloud platforms (OpenShift or equivalent) and cloud-native data architectures
• Data modeling, metadata standards, and data governance best practices
• Experience integrating with both mainframe and distributed (non-mainframe) systems
• Strong SQL and database skills (relational and NoSQL)
• CI/CD, DevOps, and automated testing practices
• Knowledge of Kafka and SDLC

Desired skills:

• Experience with Orchestra AI or similar AI/ML platforms
• Knowledge of mainframe data integration tools and protocols
• Experience with data cataloging, lineage, and data quality frameworks
• Familiarity with enterprise security, authentication, and authorization (OAuth, SAML, etc.)
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems
• Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments

Pay range: $55.06 - $63.06 per hour
