Job Description

Location: Erie Tool Shop

Direct Report: Tooling Support Technician

1. Purpose:

  • a. Ensure the consistent collection, inspection, packaging, and documentation of parts produced from assigned press(es), while maintaining product quality, safety compliance, and adherence to ISO, GMP, and company standards.

2. Responsibilities: including but not limited to

  • a. Maintain consistent collection and packaging of parts from assigned press(es).

  • b. Perform and document hourly quality checks to ensure product conformance.

  • c. Ensure accurate completion of all production-related documentation, including quality checks, scrap, and downtime.

  • d. Immediately communicate any quality or machine issues to the Shift Lead.

  • e. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation throughout the shift.

  • f. Follow all applicable safety, GMP, ISO, and company procedures.

  • g. Accurately record and report required production information.

  • h. Identify and segregate non-conforming (defective) parts.

3. Authorities: including but not limited to

  • a. Authority to stop production and notify the Shift Lead when defective parts are identified.

  • b. Authority to escalate machine or process concerns that may impact quality or safety.

  • c. Authority to reject non-conforming product according to established quality standards.

  • d. Authority to maintain compliance with safety and cleanliness expectations within the work area.

4. Primary Duties: including but not limited to

  • a. Collect parts from press machines and package them efficiently and correctly.

  • b. Conduct hourly quality inspections and document results.

  • c. Review parts for defects and differentiate between acceptable and non-acceptable product.

  • d. Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.

  • e. Monitor production output and report downtime and scrap.

  • f. Maintain workstation organization and cleanliness throughout the shift.

  • g. Communicate effectively with the Shift Lead and team members regarding issues or abnormalities.

5. Qualifications / Education Required:

  • a. Ability to read, write, and speak English.

  • b. Strong communication skills.

  • c. Ability to accurately complete required documentation.

  • d. Ability to recognize acceptable vs. defective parts.

  • e. Ability to perform visual inspections and respond quickly to quality concerns.

  • f. Ability to follow established procedures and standards (ISO, GMP, safety).

  • g. Physical ability to stand for extended periods (12-hour shifts).

  • h. Ability to lift 40-50 pounds.

6. Preferred Skills / Experience:

  • a. Prior plastics manufacturing experience

  • b. High school diploma or equivalent

7. Records:

  • a. Quality Check Logs

  • b. Production Reports

  • c. Scrap Reports

  • d. Downtime Logs

  • e. Packaging Records (if applicable)

  • f. Any non-conformance or defect documentation
