Adult HIV Research Program & Project Manager

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
Program Management
*Coach and develop research assistants, including:
oDevelop curriculum and deliver new employee training
oProvide daily oversight and direction, meeting with each research assistant weekly
oFacilitate career development opportunities
oLead annual performance review process
*Work with recruiting team to recruit 5-6 new research assistants each year
*Develop and implement supervision guidelines for faculty and fellows working with research assistants
*Meet regularly with Dr. Hyle to evaluate and advance multiple projects and priorities; provide feedback regarding competing priorities and management approaches
*Meet regularly with additional faculty, research assistants, and US and international collaborators to discuss projects and priorities.
*Ensure the highest level of research integrity, including data documentation and data management, by developing best practices, providing ongoing training, and monitoring for adherence
*Monitor personnel resource allocations and advise Dr. Hyle on factors affecting research productivity
*Manage and participate actively in collaborative grant-writing projects
*Keep team aware of and on timelines for research conferences and associated deadlines
*Work with programmatic leadership and research assistants to manage Dr. Hyle's research portfolio by orchestrating competing priorities, deadlines, and workload in a group with up to 50 ongoing research projects (within MPEC)
Research Project Management
*Coordinate all administrative aspects of 10-20 active projects with Dr. Hyle
*At project outset, clarify project goals, deliverables, tasks, timeline, and research team
*Throughout project duration, plan, track, and report on project tasks, responsible parties, timelines, etc.
*Delegate tasks among project team with continued and regular prioritization
*Proactively shepherd projects forward by planning project-specific meetings, facilitating decision-making, identifying additional resources as needed, etc.
*Lead project teams to take a highly organized and concrete approach to projects
*Facilitate effective communication across project team members
*Serve as a liaison between team members across various collaborative research sites
*For projects outside of management portfolio, provide lateral project management support by keeping high-level track of status, providing suggestions to research assistants working on these projects.
Research (optional)
*Contribute directly to and/or lead scientific analyses, abstract submissions, and manuscript development for 1-2 projects at a time
*Collaborate with researchers and computer programmers to identify and develop simulation model enhancement opportunities

Education
Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required
Master's degree in public health, public policy, management, or related field optional.

Experience

- 3+ years of experience in an academic, research, or related setting with proven project management and supervisory skills.

- Project Management Professional (PMP) certified candidates optional.

  • Basic familiarity with health research
