Job Summary
Westat is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to work part-time to support a federally funded technical assistance center serving state education agencies in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas. In this role you will work closely with staff at the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to support the design and implementation of sustainable systems that strengthen the Office of the Commissioner's workflow and agency operations. This is an entry-level role ideal for an individual who is interested in education systems, public service, and organizational improvement.

You will gain hand-on experience with:
* State-level education agency operations
* Process and system design to support organizational effectiveness
* Communicating and presenting work products to TEA staff and leadership

This is a part-time role to work 20 hours per week from June 2026 through September 11, 2026.
This position requires working onsite at the TEA office, located in Austin, TX, one (1) day per week. The remaining hours you will work remotely from your home office.

Job Responsibilities
* Create an updated and streamlined process for the office to use going forward related to correspondence requested and signed by the Commissioner
* Organize and standardize signed correspondence to align to new process
* Create written process documentation and materials to support TEA staff adoption of new processes
* Propose internal communications approach to support TEA staff adoption

Basic Qualifications
* High School diploma.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (e.g., Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel)

Preferred Qualifications
* Undergraduate level coursework in education, public policy, or a related field.
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to handle sensitive or official documents with discretion and professionalism
* Experience with cataloging, filing, or inventory processes
* Professional experience related to education, public affairs, or civic leadership
* Familiarity with Smartsheet or similar online project management tools

Any background screening results will be evaluated through an individualized assessment based on the individual's specific record and the duties and requirements of the position.

This opportunity will be posted for a minimum of 5 days and applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.

Employment Eligibility: This is a U.S.-based position. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
