Organizational Unit Overview
The Department of Occupational Therapy is an integral component of one of the largest and most dynamic health sciences colleges in North Carolina. The department prepares students for professional careers as registered occupational therapists through its accredited Master of Science in Occupational Therapy ( MSOT) program and Doctor of Occupational Therapy ( OTD) program.
The department is comprised of ten fulltime faculty members, including the department chair, and two fulltime Administrative Support Associates who collectively support academic, administrative, and operational functions. The department admits up to 26 students each fall, who complete four oncampus semesters, including summer terms, followed by two semesters of offsite clinical fieldwork prior to summer graduation. OTD students complete an additional on-site and an additional offsite semester before graduating the following spring.
The Administrative Support Associate position is a fulltime, twelvemonth role that provides essential support to ensure the effective operation of departmental programs and services in support of faculty, staff, and students.
Job Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to support the effective operation of the Department of Occupational Therapy, with primary responsibility for administrative functions related to the clinical and offsite experiential learning components of the curriculum. These components include classbased experiential learning activities, fieldwork education, and capstone experiences.

The position also provides general administrative support to the department, which may include meeting with students regarding fieldwork and capstone processes, coordinating departmental activities, and assisting with other college and departmental functions as needed. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and professionalism to ensure compliance with program and accreditation requirements.
This position regularly utilizes a variety of institutional, clinical, and accreditationrelated software systems that are subject to periodic updates and changes. Success in this role requires the ability to quickly learn new technologies, adapt to system changes, and accurately manage data across multiple electronic platforms. This position also includes coordinating student onboarding and immunization compliance, overseeing and managing university requirements for tracking outofclassroom experiential learning activities in collaboration with appropriate faculty and learning, maintaining, and expanding proficiency in the use of multiple datamanagement and reporting software systems, managing administrative processes related to accreditation requirements, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with institutional, clinical, and accrediting standards. Additionally, the role requires regular coordination and professional communication with individuals and organizations outside the department, including clinical partners, university offices, and other external stakeholders.
