Position Summary/Department Summary:
Under direction of a Cardiac Perfusionist, performs tasks within scope of practice to aid in the perfusion team's workflow. Coordinates inventory, equipment maintenance, and databases. Assists with the set up and breakdown of circuits used during cardiac surgery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates CVOR perfusion supplies.
  • Orders and restocks inventory.
  • Monitors supply usage and initiates orders according to established par levels in all assigned areas.
  • Monitors, receives, verifies and distributes orders, following up with Purchasing and vendors to resolve errors and delays.
  • Unboxes product deliveries and stocks items in assigned locations, maintaining order in supply locations.
  • Assists with the setup and priming of bypass circuits used during cardiac surgery.
  • Assists Perfusionists as required during bypass.
  • Performs Blood Gas Analysis under direction of a perfusionist in accordance with lab protocols.
  • Dismantles the pump and cell saver circuit after bypass.
  • Cleans and inspects equipment to ensure devices are in working order.
  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs and/or arranges services.
  • Monitors equipment availability and provides substitutions as needed for scheduled surgical cases.
  • Maintains assigned electronic databases used for monitoring perfusionist caseloads and tracking perfusion case data.
  • Works collaboratively with the Perfusion management to aid in the development of the Perfusion Department and Cardiovascular Program.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in designated committees and special projects.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:
  • HS diploma or GED required, Associate's degree in Biology, Medical Sciences, or Engineering preferred
Experience:
  • Must have the ability to exchange information on factual matters, and/or relay messages to appropriate contacts. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees.
  • Previous work in a patient care, medical equipment or related setting highly preferred.
Schedule: Rotating Shifts
6AM-2:30PM and 10:30AM - 7PM

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
