POSITION OVERVIEW

Under supervision, performs semi-skilled and skilled cleaning of College Residences /Dining Halls facilities, bathrooms, kitchens, suites, and landings. Will operate vacuum cleaners and floor machines. Other duties include damp/dust mop, sweep, vacuum, shampoo carpet, wax and buff floors, empty trash, move and arrange furniture, wash windows, clean rooms, furniture, bathrooms, and appliances. Responsible for safeguarding assigned area's keys and care/operation of custodial supplies and equipment. Will respond to routine and emergency work requests from supervisor, staff, maintenance, Customer Service Center, and police department as needed. Will provide customer service to student residents and guests as needed. Work location is Dining Halls/student residence. Positive interaction with staff, residents, and guests is required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six (6) months of experience performing cleaning in a custodial cleaning operation or large multi-facility environment.

  • Knowledge of appropriate cleaning solutions, disinfectants, and equipment (auto scrubbers, carpet extractors, floor buffers) used on a variety of residential floorings, upholstery, and fixtures.

  • Ability to efficiently clean and maintain rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas while respecting resident privacy and property.

  • Perform the essential functions with, or without, reasonable accommodation.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities, including assignment to special projects or new area assignments on short notice; willingness to work overtime or alternate hours as needs dictate; rapid response to routine and emergency service requests.

  • Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative partner with students, faculty, staff, and guests providing courteous, student-focused service.

  • Demonstrated understanding of protocols for fire alarms, water leaks, bio hazard spills, and other emergencies that can arise in housing facilities.

  • Basic computer skills to check email, approve time, and to complete electronic records as required.

  • Ability to responsibly manage custodial keys, radios, and any resident related documentation, ensuring security and privacy.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

  • May be required to work overtime by supervisor with little or no advanced notice.

  • Will be required to work alternate work hours and shifts.

  • Must be physically able to perform physical labor for extended periods.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $43,952 - $54,685 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $21.05 - $26.19

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
