Role Overview

The Field Technology Specialist II serves as the lead regional resource for precision agriculture technology, supporting branch teams and sales staff in building a profitable and sustainable precision agriculture business where market demand and infrastructure align. This role partners closely with area management and Geography Field Technology leadership to implement regional technology strategies, support strategic accounts, and deliver customer-focused solutions that improve crop production and management.

A Sample of What You'll Do in This Role:

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include the opportunity to:

  • Serve as the primary technology subject matter expert within the assigned region, supporting branch teams in developing and executing precision agriculture offerings.

  • Implement Geography Field Technology business plans, goals, and objectives in alignment with regional needs and geographic strategies.

  • Collaborate with area management and the Geography Field Technology Lead to ensure alignment between regional execution and broader organizational goals.

  • Work directly with the sales force to:

    • Develop customer- and grower-specific technology programs.

    • Demonstrate site-specific techniques that increase crop production and improve crop management.

    • Support all components of the Ag Verdict System, including mapping, water management, fertility, record keeping, traceability, yield mapping, and variable rate fertilizer applications.

  • Support branch field activities such as soil sampling, sensor deployment, variable rate (VR) mapping, and onboarding of new accounts.

  • Assist sales teams in positioning and selling precision technology solutions to growers.

  • Conduct training on all aspects of precision agriculture to enable sales personnel to become self-sufficient in technology offerings.

  • Deliver presentations on technology solutions to growers, branch teams, and company leadership.

  • Maintain open communication and effective data sharing with branch personnel, conveying an appropriate sense of urgency when needed.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with branch teams and management.

  • Provide Tier 1 technology support for the Branch Field Technology Lead.

  • Actively participate as a member of the Geography Field Technology team.

  • Represent and communicate area-specific needs to the geography team.

  • Represent and communicate national and geography goals and objectives back to area teams.

  • Represent technology services for all Strategic Accounts within the assigned region.

  • Partner with other internal teams, such as the nutrition team, to help develop cooperative and integrated programs when required.

What You Bring to the Role:

  • 3-5 years of experience developing or implementing agronomy or precision agriculture technology.

  • Basic knowledge of computers and software systems used for collecting, managing, and analyzing data related to soils, crops, water management, and pests.

  • Working knowledge of equipment used in precision agriculture programs, including but not limited to:

    • Veris operations

    • Data gathering and map creation

    • Variable rate fertilizer application equipment (liquid and dry)

    • Spray equipment for pesticide applications

    • Pumps and water management systems

    • Computer systems and data interpretation tools

    • Mobile devices or PDAs used for record keeping

    • Strip-till applications

  • Familiarity with marketing principles, financial accounting concepts, and business value calculations.

  • Advanced interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train, present, and influence diverse audiences.

Work Conditions:

  • Travel within the assigned region is required, including attendance at meetings and training sessions.

  • Regular use of computers and job-related software is required.

  • Ability to fully participate in training sessions, presentations, field activities, and meetings.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $69,000 - $92,080. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience.

  • This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, and retirement plan participation, including an employer contribution of up to 7% into your 401(k).
