The Record (Bergen County NJ) & North Jersey.com , part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled vertical video lead. The ideal candidate will create and develop visual storytelling across multiple platforms, using video to inform, engage and entertain fan bases. The employee will connect with readers through social media, coordinate with internal staff on the best ways to implement vertical video and pursue user-generated content when appropriate. They will be fluent in digital journalism methods, tools, and best practices, with an emphasis on video production on tight deadlines in breaking news and planned coverage situations. This position regularly contributes ideas for stories and video that are fresh, compelling, and timely and that will meet audience interests and needs. This person will identify the top video storytelling opportunities each day and ensure the newsroom has the means to capture, produce, distribute and promote that video. Also, takes initiative in creating videos and other multimedia content, and ensures appropriate videos are updated regularly online. Candidate must be self-directed and self-motivated, with the ability to handle many wide-ranging duties at the same time. Must have strong planning skills and news judgment, be detail-oriented, and have strong interpersonal and community relation skills. Candidates must be able to accept and use constructive feedback for improvement, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work nights and weekends or travel as needed.
