Overview

The Associate will play a critical role in managing the financial and operational performance of battery energy storage assets within the Energy Management team. This position is responsible for overseeing the Profit & Loss (P&L) of battery assets both company owned and those with utility dispatch rights, ensuring optimal market participation, accurate billing, and adherence to contractual obligations. The Associate will monitor market performance, analyze revenue streams, and develop strategies to maximize profitability while maintaining compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements. The Associate coordinates closely with operations, engineering and project teams to keep assets marketready. The Associate will assist with NYISO registration activities and maintain compliance items and operating parameters. The role monitors realtime performance, state of charge, efficiency, and dispatch quality to ensure reliable operations. You will assist in developing and refining bid strategies and operational strategies that maximize revenue while minimizing penalties and costs. The role produces clear, executiveready reporting and insights for senior management decisionmaking. Success requires strong quantitative skills, NYISO market knowledge, and a handson approach to asset operations.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Manage the Profit & Loss (P&L) for battery energy storage assets, including revenue forecasting, cost tracking, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor NYISO and other relevant market operations, analyze price signals, and optimize dispatch strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Ensure accurate billing for energy transactions and auxiliary loads; reconcile discrepancies and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Track and enforce contractual obligations related to battery assets, including performance guarantees, cycling limits, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly performance reports; identify revenue optimization opportunities and support regulatory filings.
  • Work closely with operations, finance, and regulatory teams to align asset performance with company objectives and compliance standards.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests and analysis as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety, health, and environmental policies.
  • Assess market, operational, and contractual risks; develop mitigation strategies to protect asset profitability.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Management, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent is required. and Minimum one year cumulative work

    experience OR six months of Con

    Edison co-op/internship

    experience.

Relevant Work Experience

  • Must have the ability to make sound business decisions, required.
  • Must be detail oriented, have strong analytical and computer skills (Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, PowerPoint), required.
  • One year of utility, energy industry or operational experience, preferred.
  • Power Generation, Steam Operations, Gas Control, Gas Engineering and/or System and Transmission Operations, ISO-administered energy, capacity, TCCs, ISO Billing; physical and/or financial commodities training, purchasing natural gas and pipeline scheduling, optimizing supply, pipeline and storage assets, developing and troubleshooting worksheet applications and models, performing economic analysis, developing forecasts and conducting energy related research, Energy Policy and Regulatory matters, Contract administration (ISDA, EEI, NAESB), preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience coding in at least one of Python, SQL, or R, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be available to work additional hours in order to meet project deadlines and respond to emergencies.
  • In addition, the position provides off-duty coverage and a shift rotation, which requires carrying a designated on-call cell phone during off-hours, for seven days, on a four week rotation (including weekends and holidays).
