Who we are looking for: The Lender is responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of consumer and/or commercial loans by evaluating creditworthiness, structuring loan solutions, and advising clients on appropriate lending products. The role requires the regular exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance, including credit analysis, risk assessment, loan structuring, and customer advisory services. The Lender operates with minimal supervision and plays a key role in supporting the bank's financial objectives, credit quality, and regulatory compliance. In addition, this role provides direct supervision and functional leadership to a Lending Assistant(s), including oversight of work quality, prioritization, and performance guidance. What you'll do: Credit Analysis & Decision-Making
- Independently evaluate loan applications by analyzing financial statements, credit histories, cash flow, collateral, and risk factors.
- Make independent decisions on loan approvals, denials, or modifications within delegated authority limits.
- Exercise discretion in determining loan terms, pricing, structure, and conditions within established lending authority.
- Prepare and present credit memoranda and recommendations for approval to senior management or loan committees.
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to clients by assessing borrowing needs and recommending appropriate loan products and structures.
- Develop and maintain long-term client relationships through proactive financial guidance and portfolio management.
- Negotiate loan terms and conditions directly with clients, balancing customer needs with institutional risk standards.
- Prepare and present credit memoranda and recommendations for approval to senior management or loan committees.
Portfolio Management & Risk Oversight
- Monitor loan portfolios for credit quality, covenant compliance, and emerging risk trends.
- Participate in problem loan resolutions strategies, including workout discussions and restructuring recommendations.
- Recommend corrective actions, restructures, or risk mitigation strategies when necessary.
Policy, Compliance & Strategic Support
- Collaborate with underwriting, credit administration, and compliance teams on complex or high-risk transactions.
- Interpret and apply complex banking regulations and internal guidelines to lending decisions.
- Ensure lending activities comply with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and banking laws.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of lending policies, procedures, and best practices.
Business Development & Leadership
- Identify and pursue new lending opportunities aligned with the bank's strategic goals.
- Represent the bank in community, business development, and professional activities.
- Provide guidance and functional leadership to junior lending and support staff as needed.
- Maintain a robust referral network in the local banking community with builders, real estate agents, and other related businesses.
- Represent the bank in a professional manner during and outside of office hours.
- Demonstrate flexibility to perform every other duty as assigned.
Authority & Decision-Making
- Operates with minimal supervision and is evaluated on outcomes, portfolio performance, and compliance adherence.
- Authorized to approve loans within established limits and make binding recommendations on larger or more complex credits.
- Exercises independent judgement on matters of significance, including credit risk assessment, loan structuring, and customer advisement.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervise staff, assign work, set priorities, and support employee development.
- Participate in hiring, training, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations; make or provide meaningful recommendations regarding employment decisions.
What you'll need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of progressive experience in banking, lending, or credit analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of financial analysis, credit principles, and loan documentation
- Demonstrate ethical character and judgement with attention to respect, commitment, integrity, values and confidential boundaries.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in high-impact financial decisions.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and advisory skills
- Must be a self-starter and able to work independently, possessing good, effective time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize.
- Highly reliable with the ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Sensitivity to confidential information is required.

- Display strong leadership skills measured by the formation of genuine relationships and fostering a positive work environment.
