About the Role
Symplicity is looking for a Senior Manager of Events to own the planning and execution of our most important events - the conferences, field programs, and internal gatherings that put our brand in front of the right people and give our sales team the pipeline moments they need. This role is ideal for someone who runs toward complexity, takes pride in nothing falling through the cracks, and genuinely enjoys being the person everyone depends on to make things run smoothly. You'll own vendor relationships, manage the events budget end-to-end, and work closely with the VP of Marketing and regional sales teams to make sure every event we invest in earns its place on the calendar.
What You'll Own
Event Planning & Execution
- Own end-to-end logistics for Symplicity's flagship conference presence, internal sales kickoff, prospect dinners, and select field events - from initial planning through on-site execution and post-event wrap-up
- Manage the annual events calendar and maintain a clear, up-to-date roadmap of what's coming, what's in flight, and what's complete
- Partner with regional marketing and sales teams to ensure event programs are aligned to pipeline goals and deliver on attendance, engagement, and ROI targets
- Own all vendor, venue, and agency relationships - negotiate contracts, manage timelines, and hold external partners accountable to quality and budget
- Manage the events budget with precision - track spend, reconcile against actuals, and flag variances early; route contracts and approvals through the right channels (legal, finance)
- Build and maintain repeatable workflows and checklists so nothing slips
- Track event performance in HubSpot - attendance, pipeline created, pipeline influenced - and come to every debrief ready with data, not just a recap
Must Haves
- 5+ years of experience in B2B event marketing or event management, with a track record of running complex, multi-stakeholder events with minimal supervision
- Genuinely exceptional organizational skills - you have a system, you work it, and things don't fall through the cracks
- Experience owning vendor and agency relationships, including negotiating contracts and managing to budget
- Comfort working directly with senior execs and external clients in a polished, professional, and personable way
- Proficiency with HubSpot or a comparable CRM/marketing automation platform; you understand how events connect to pipeline and you can show it
- A process-oriented mindset - you follow workflows, loop in legal and finance at the right moments, and don't create surprises for the people around you
- Curiosity about AI-assisted tools and workflows - you're open to experimenting, learning, and sharing what works with the team
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% to support flagship events
Our Culture
Culture is everything at Symplicity. It's what keeps people here for years and it's what makes the work feel worth it - even when the work is hard. A few things that define how we operate:
- Customer-first, always. Our clients are universities shaping the next generation. We take that seriously, and it shows in how we build, sell, and support.
- Adaptable by nature. We're a global team operating across five regions, recently acquired, and constantly evolving. If you need everything to be perfectly defined before you move, this isn't the place. If you thrive when things are in motion, you'll love it here.
- Inclusive and low-ego. We hire good people, trust them, and make space for every voice. Titles don't determine who gets to have ideas.
- Ownership over everything. We don't wait to be told. If it's your event, your vendor, your budget - it's yours. We back people who take the wheel.
What We Offer
- Full ownership of Symplicity's event program - the calendar, the budget, the vendor relationships, and the results
- Direct partnership with the VP of Marketing and regional sales leaders who will invest in your success
- Access to global marketing resources, playbooks, and a collaborative team that shares openly across regions
- A team culture built around AI experimentation - we actively encourage everyone to test new tools, share learnings, and iterate together
- Based in our Arlington, VA office with flexibility for the right candidate
