Job Title: Sr. Instructional Designer
Job Location: Washington, DC

Duration: 12 Months (Contract to Hire)

Work Model: Primarily remote - Onsite presence required from September to December - 4-5 days per week onsite during this period

  • Instructional design model - SAM and ADDIE
Training Modalities
  • eLearning development
  • Instructor-Led Training (ILT) support and materials
  • Creation of complete training documentation and learning assets
Content Areas / Projects
  • Development of end-to-end enrollment training materials
  • Full enrollment lifecycle processes
  • Training content for claims processes
Tool migration initiative
  • Design and development of ServiceNow training / learning materials
  • Training for new phone/contact center services
  • Creation of supporting eLearning modules
PURPOSE:

Focuses on the systematic process employed to develop learning products for the organization through the analysis of learning/business needs, adult learning theory, partnering with subject matter experts, and the ongoing evaluation of programs to maintain accuracy and relevance. Learning products include online courses, instructional manuals, video tutorials, and learning simulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • 25% Designs, develops and delivers high quality Instructor-led, eLearning, and multimedia course materials including: course design documents, course outlines, course descriptions, presentation slides, diagrams, lab exercises, instructor guides, lab setup guides, job aids, and assessments.
  • 25% Creates visually appealing products that adhere to branding guidelines utilizing graphic, authoring, and video production tools.
  • 20% Partners cross functionally to scope requirements, objectives, and deliver projects. Conducting front end analysis including needs assessment, task analysis, content analysis, and instructional analysis.
  • 15% Applies instructional design principles, methodologies and adult learning theories for better learning experiences.
  • 15% Owns the end-to-end design and development process for assigned projects through consistent status updates, leading quality content/product reviews and lessons-learned discussions.
Qualifications

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree

Education Details: Communication, Instructional Design, Technology, Education or related field

Experience: 5 years' experience as an instructional designer, trainer or similar role

In Lieu of Education: In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree Instructional Design; experience developing learning material using multiple platforms (Adobe, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Premiere).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of how web-based, multimedia and mobile technologies can be used to enhance learning, teaching and assessment, Advanced
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems., Advanced
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines., Advanced
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications., Proficient
  • Effective written and interpersonal communication skills, Advanced
  • Experience using graphic design, Proficient
