Cable Technician II (Data Center) - Contract to Hire Location: Mesa, AZ Work Type: Onsite Schedule: * Monday-Friday, typically 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM * Earlier start times possible during summer months (as early as 4:00 AM) * Weekend work is rare and only as needed Duration: Contract with conversion eligibility after 640 hours Pay Rate: $20-$24/hour (based on experience) Positions Available: Multiple openings Job Overview We are seeking motivated and dependable Cable Technicians to support a longterm, largescale data center construction project in Mesa, AZ. This is a contracttohire opportunity with steady work, strong project longevity (3+ years), and opportunities for growth within a new technical team. Technicians will support structured cabling installations within an industrial data center environment, working primarily indoors with some exposure to outdoor and limitedclimatecontrol areas. Responsibilities * Install, route, support, and secure CAT5 and CAT6 lowvoltage cabling * Pull, dress, label, and terminate cables (RJ45, fiber where applicable) * Install cable support systems including Jhooks, Drings, cable tray, trapeze, and strut * Build and install telecom closets (racks, patch panels, backboards, crossconnects) * Perform basic firestopping procedures and sleeve/core penetrations * Install and ground racks, equipment, and cabling per standards * Terminate lowvoltage devices and assist with testing/troubleshooting * Accurately complete timesheets, work orders, material transfers, and documentation * Adhere to all safety, quality, and jobsite requirements * Work at heights using ladders and scissor lifts as required Required Experience & Skills * 2-4 years of structured cabling or lowvoltage experience * (Trade school graduates considered) * Experience supporting data center or largescale commercial projects preferred * Knowledge of: * CAT5/CAT6 cabling * Color codes and terminations * Cable pulling and routing * Rack and stack * Fiber optics (installation or exposure preferred) * Comfortable working in fastpaced construction environments * Strong work ethic, reliability, and coachability Physical & Work Environment Requirements * Ability to stand/walk 10-12 hours per day, up to 50-60 hours/week * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs * Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces * Ability to distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals * Indoor/outdoor commercial data center work with limited HVAC during early project phases * High walking volume - comfortable insoles strongly recommended Tools & PPE Requirements Technicians must provide: * Steeltoe boots * Basic hand tools (full list provided during onboarding), including: * Screwdrivers, pliers, snips, hammer, tape measure, level, flashlight, gloves Education & Additional Requirements * High School diploma or GED * Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn quickly * Basic construction knowledge preferred * Ability to meet minimum driving standards (preferred) * Drug screening required Why This Role? * Longterm, highvisibility data center project (multimilliondollar scope) * Opportunity for fulltime conversion after contract period * New team environment with strong training and support * Consistent weekday schedule with minimal weekend work Interview Process * Initial phone screen * Technical interview with project leadership Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ.
