Design and Construction Management
Design & Construction Management oversees the planning, design, and delivery of construction and renovation projects that support campus facilities. The department manages large-scale capital projects and works with campus partners, consultants, and contractors to deliver functional, high-performance spaces. Recent and ongoing projects include the Innovation Lab, Welcome Center, Protoplex, and Bioplex.

• Provide day-to-day leadership, coordination, and oversight of assigned facilities maintenance, repair, and improvement activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards
• Serve as a point of contact for customers, building occupants, and campus stakeholders by fostering strong relationships, communicating project status, resolving concerns, and promoting a high level of customer satisfaction
• Mentor and train staff in effective customer service practices, professional communication, responsiveness, and positive relationship management with campus customers
• Oversee temporary employees and assigned staff by providing direction, monitoring productivity, reinforcing expectations, and supporting successful completion of daily work assignments
• Conduct full project site inspections before, during, and after work activities to verify readiness, monitor progress, ensure quality workmanship, and confirm completed work meets departmental standards
• Review plans, drawings, and project scopes to identify constructability concerns, operational impacts, material needs, and opportunities for improved execution
• Coordinate with design and construction staff to submit Requests for Information (RFIs), clarify project intent, and assist in resolving field conflicts or change order issues
• Manage materials procurement activities including identifying needs, sourcing materials, tracking orders, and ensuring timely availability of supplies for assigned projects and maintenance operations
• Perform building trades duties as assigned in support of construction, repair, renovation, and operational needs of the department
• Inspect completed work frequently for neatness, cleanliness, efficiency, and overall results, making recommendations for continuous improvement where needed
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental operations

M-TH 7 AM to 5:30 PM.

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Minimum of 20 years of progressively responsible experience in construction trades, including strong background in finish work such as painting, drywall, and related building trades.

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $21.71-$30.90 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
