The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program in the Department of Psychology, Professional Counseling, and Neuroscience is inviting applications for a visiting professor (9-month) position. The fully online position is scheduled to begin in August of 2026. Visiting faculty positions include teaching (24 credits or 6 courses per year). The successful candidate will have an earned or anticipated doctorate in counseling or counselor education by May of 2027, experience teaching across the curriculum in CMHC, experience supervising clinical mental health students, and demonstrated experience in online education (synchronously and asynchronously).

Responsibilities:

Teaching courses in the graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling(80%)
Service to the Program and Department, the College, UW-Parkside, the profession, and the community(20%)

Essential Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and ability to teach core courses in clinical mental health counseling at the graduate level online.

  • Knowledge and ability to conduct research and scholarly activities within a chosen specialty of clinical mental health counseling.

  • Knowledge and ability to conduct clinical supervision of students in graduate clinical mental health counseling program.

  • The position is not responsible for money or university funds of accounts which hold financial information.

  • Ergonomic requirements: sufficient mobility and dexterity to move around office, campus and community. Ability to work with keyboard, mouse and monitor. Ability to attend meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences.

  • Equipment to be used on the job: laptop or desktop computer, printer, copier, projector, telephone including voice mail and FAX.

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctorate or anticipated doctorate (e.g. doctoral candidate) in counseling or counselor education with expectation of completion by May of 2027.

  • Experience teaching online asynchronous courses.

  • Experience providing clinical supervision to clinical mental health counseling students.

  • Research and scholarly activity in clinical mental health counseling.

  • Experience working with students and staff from culturally diverse backgrounds.

  • Licensed as a professional counselor, or training license will be considered.

Education:

Doctorate or anticipated doctorate (e.g. doctoral candidate) in counseling or counselor education with expectation of completion by May of 2027
