Description
Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC) is currently hiring a Project Executive to lead our Higher Education and Institutional business line. As the Project Executive at CWC you will lead the successful delivery of large-scale commercial construction projects, typically within the higher education sector. This role is accountable for safety, client relationships, financial performance, schedule, and overall project outcomes.


You will oversee multiple project teams and serve as the senior leader ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:


Project Leadership


  • Lead multiple project teams to deliver work safely, on schedule, and within budget
  • Set project direction, define goals, and ensure accountability across teams
  • Monitor performance, identify risks, and drive solutions


Client & Business Development


  • Build and maintain relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors
  • Support new business development and lead generation efforts
  • Represent the company at industry events and client meetings


Preconstruction & Pursuits


  • Participate in preconstruction, bidding, and constructability reviews
  • Collaborate on RFP responses, proposals, and client presentations
  • Provide input on logistics, phasing, and scheduling


Project Execution


  • Partner with scheduling to develop and maintain project timelines
  • Oversee procurement, scope development, subcontractor selection, and agreements
  • Ensure subcontractor performance aligns with scope, schedule, and quality


Financial & Contract Management


  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost controls
  • Track and evaluate change orders and cost-to-complete
  • Review and approve pay applications and invoices


Communication & Controls


  • Serve as primary point of contact for owners and stakeholders
  • Lead regular project and owner meetings
  • Oversee RFIs, submittals, permitting, and documentation


Closeout & Team Development


  • Manage project closeout and ensure timely release of retention
  • Lead monthly project reviews and financial reporting
  • Mentor and develop project team members


Safety & Compliance


  • Enforce company safety program and regulatory compliance


Qualifications:


  • At least ten (10) years of experience in managing building construction projects singularly, or in cumulative, in excess of Twenty (20) Million Dollars
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or Related field
  • Proven track record of client satisfaction and profitability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Procore, Bluebeam as well as an understanding of Primavera scheduling and BIM
  • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands
  • Trustworthy, self-motivated, passionate and dedicated to high-quality work
  • Ability to perform all duties in a digital/paperless environment


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with higher education or institutional construction projects
  • OSHA 30 certification, First Aid and CPR certification
  • LEED accreditation or experience with sustainable construction practices
  • Experience with Primavera scheduling and BIM processes

Wage Transparency:
In accordance with the Maryland Wage Transparency Law, the base salary range for this position: $170,000 - $215,000, based on experience, qualifications, and skills.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

This role may require periodic jobsite visits. Responsibilities may include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in environments with construction equipment, varying weather conditions, and active construction sites.
