Job Description

What is the opportunity?

  • Support and build-out of the New York based Rates Market Making desk as a Rates Derivatives Trade Support Senior Analyst.

  • Develop a deep understanding of macro financial markets to provide support to the Market Making Desk.

  • Strive to provide best-in-class trade execution to RBC's investment professionals.

  • Deliver the highest degree of white-glove service to clients

What will you do?

  • Day-to-day emphasis on the support and automation of complex transactions in the Rates Derivative product family (Swaptions, OIS, Caps, Floors, Bond Options, FRA), Futures hedging - where product proficiency is required to interpret economics, understand guidelines, and develop processes.

  • Strong grasp of macroeconomic drivers and trends affecting rates markets.

  • Monitor real-time risk metrics and trading activity on the desk; develop enhanced analytics and reporting to support traders' decision-making on position management, hedging strategies, and intraday risk exposure.

  • Serve as a point of contact between the Rates Market Making desk and support functions (Technology, Compliance, Product Control) to escalate desk-specific operational questions and support seamless execution of complex derivative strategies.

  • Collaborate with the Trading desk and Technology teams to identify opportunities to streamline market-making workflows, reduce friction in trade execution, and enhance desk efficiency through process refinement and automation.

  • Work alongside experienced traders on the Trading Desk to develop practical expertise.

  • Manage client relationships and serve as a reliable intermediary for accurate, timely communication with trading counterparties.

  • Utilize Bloomberg terminal, Murex & Markitwire to monitor positions, trade details, and communication with desk.

What you need to succeed?

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Driven attitude to help create efficiencies within current processes and lead projects.

  • Emphasis on strong communications ability.

  • Demonstrate strong analytical and technical skills, data manipulation, macros, excel based processes.

  • Ability to develop relationship cooperatively with all levels of the team.

  • FINRA Registrations: SIE & Series 99 and/or SIE & Series 7/Series 63 (to be completed within 90 days if absent).

Nice to have:

  • Extensive experience with Rates Derivative products and the resulting trade life-cycle processes - i.e. Option Exercise, Novations, Terminations, Clearing, etc.

  • Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements within derivative trading landscape - i.e. Dodd Frank, EMIR, MiFID II, PTMM, etc.

  • Technical Proficiency in financial systems and exchanges: Bloomberg Terminal, Murex, Markitwire, Rose, Sophis, Felix

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $65,000 - $105,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
