Position Overview We are a growing technology VAR delivering integrated security solutions-including access control, video surveillance, and supporting infrastructure-to federal, education, and commercial clients. We are seeking a Director of Security Systems to lead and scale our end-to-end operational and technical execution. This role oversees the full lifecycle of our security solutions practice, including pre-sales engineering, system design, estimating, project delivery, field operations, and service. This leader will manage a multi-layered organization, with direct reports that may include managers of estimating, engineering, field operations, and service. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with deep industry expertise and a proven ability to deliver high-quality solutions while building high-performing teams and leaders. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Business & Operational Leadership *Own operational performance and profitability of the security systems business line *Partner with sales leadership to support growth strategy across federal, education, and commercial sectors *Develop scalable processes and infrastructure to support business growth *Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers and technology vendors Pre-Sales, Estimating & Solution Support *Lead pre-sales engineering and estimating functions *Oversee development of accurate scopes, system designs, and cost estimates *Support complex pursuits, RFP responses, and technical solution positioning *Partner with sales on pricing strategies to ensure accurate scoping and margin targets Engineering & Solution Design *Lead system architecture and engineering standards for access control and surveillance solutions *Ensure compliance with applicable codes, federal requirements, and industry best practices *Drive consistency in design, documentation, and bill-of-material development Operations & Field Delivery *Oversee project management, installation, commissioning, and field operations teams *Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards *Implement scalable processes for estimating, scheduling, and resource planning *Drive continuous improvement across delivery and field execution Service & Support *Lead service/maintenance programs and recurring revenue growth *Establish SLAs, service standards, and customer support processes *Ensure high customer satisfaction and retention Organizational Leadership *Lead a team of managers across key functions such as estimating, engineering, project management, field operations, and service *Build, mentor, and develop both individual contributors and frontline managers *Establish clear performance metrics, accountability, and reporting structures *Drive organizational alignment across pre-sales, delivery, and service teams ________________________________________ Qualifications *10+ years of experience in physical security systems (access control, CCTV, surveillance) *5+ years in a leadership role overseeing multiple functions (engineering, estimating, operations, field teams) *Experience managing managers or multi-layered teams *Experience working within a VAR, integrator, or security systems provider *Strong understanding of platforms such as (Verkada, Avigilon, Hirsch, Axis, Hanwha, Brivo, Milestone, etc.) *Experience with federal and/or public sector clients (preferred) *Proven track record of operational excellence and successful project delivery at scale *Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and margin management *Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills ________________________________________ Preferred Experience *Knowledge of low-voltage systems, networking, and infrastructure *Experience with compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, or similar) *Need Experience in scaling service-based revenue models ________________________________________ Success Metrics *Project delivery performance (on-time, on-budget, quality) *Gross margin performance on delivered work *Accuracy of estimates and engineering outputs *Customer satisfaction and retention *Growth of service/recurring revenue *Team performance, scalability, and retention *Skills* Security, access control, cctv systems *Top Skills Details* Security,access control,cctv systems *Additional Skills & Qualifications* direct, strong communication *Experience Level* Expert Level *Job Type & Location*This is a Permanent position based out of Torrance, CA. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $175000.00/yr. our Client offers free HMO medical benefits for yourself or they also offer PPO as an option you can pay into. They offer dental and vison benefits as well. 401k, matching 10%.
