About the Role:
- Orthopedic Technician within Orthopedics provides specialized technical support to the division of Orthopedics.
What You'll Bring: Minimum Education
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
- 2 years' experience in Orthopedics or related field (Required)
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Must be active member in the National Association of Orthopedic Technologist (N. A. O. T .) 180 Days .
- Must pass the N. B. C. O.T. certification and/or maintain their National Board Certification 2 Yrs (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs.
- Ability to utilize various office equipment.
- Ability to communicate with patients and their families of divers cultural backgrounds.
Functional Accountabilities Effectively performs technical duties
- Assist with the application and removal of basic and specialized bracing, plaster and fiberglass cast (i.e. pre-made functional bracing, cast bracing, spica cast, body cast, etc.) on the wards, in the clinic and in the O.R.
- Assist residents, nurses, and technologist with proper application techniques in casting, splinting and traction.
- Apply , modify and dismantle traction equipment.
- Complete rounds as required.
Completes required documentation
- Complete service and supply charge forms
Ensures effective use of resources
- Assist with maintaining adequate supplies in designated areas.
- Assist with inventory and ordering of supplies and equipment.
- Assist with the evaluation of orthopaedic supplies.
Is a communication link for patients and their families
- Provide patient care and education in a variety of orthopedic subjects to patients and their families.
- Provide patient communication on a level that is comfortable and understandable for the patient and their family.

The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children's National believes an individual's base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children's National compensation philosophy.
