This is a Temporary position limited to no more than 9-months.

Job Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry Brain Imaging Center is seeking a temporary Registered MRI Technologist for their researched dedicated 3T Siemens Skyra and GE 3T PREMIER scanners. This is a research dedicated facility that is currently running ~100 different research protocols. The temporary employee will assist in:

  • Operating Siemens and GE 3T scanners to carry out research protocols

The Brain Imaging Center is open M-F 7:00 am - 7:00pm and Saturday 8-12. Hours will vary depending on when scans are scheduled.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a detailed understanding of MR physics and MR image quality.

  • Perform imaging procedures according to BIC-specific and study-specific protocols.

  • Assist investigators in selecting appropriate imaging parameters and in documenting study parameters.

  • Educate research participants regarding scanning procedures to ensure understanding, cooperation, and comfort.

  • Guide research assistants in procedures relevant to scanning (e.g., how to prepare the participant, computer set-up, when to begin fMRI task paradigms) and help them with troubleshooting.

  • Identify and troubleshoot problematic situations that may arise during MRI scanning.

  • Monitor participants during scanning and respond as needed.

  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and work area in accordance with BIC/University/Department guidelines and expectations.

  • Regularly perform and document quality control procedures on equipment. This includes taking appropriate and timely action to resolve image quality issues.

  • Assess image quality during scanning and adjust procedures as necessary to resolve issues.

  • Perform processing and transferring of acquired imaging data as needed. This includes maintaining a working knowledge of imaging processing and software/hardware components.

  • Assess, ensure and document participant safety prior to all scanning procedures.

  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize serious health emergencies and respond with appropriate action. This includes being aware of contraindications to scanning procedures.

  • Maintain professional interactions with investigators, research participants, and staff.

  • Manage and maintain documentation for all studies and scanning sessions, including regulatory compliance records, scanning protocols, and other study requirements.

  • Manage data storage and back-ups. Assist investigators with data access.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Bachelor's level degree

  • Registered as a Technologist (RT) and registered in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

  • 5+ years MRI experience with human populations and brain-specific imaging experience

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MRI quality control procedures

  • MR-relevant computer proficiency (including ability to navigate between multiple screens and systems quickly and accurately)

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Must be dependable, professional, detail-oriented, flexible, and organized

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A detailed understanding of MR physics and MR image quality (including appropriate MR certification)

  • Experience with human MRI, including brain imaging, and the ability to understand and adjust scan parameters based on desired outcomes

  • Demonstrate highly developed knowledge of general objectives in MR methodologies and applications, related equipment, and human anatomy/physiology

  • Ability to independently identify and troubleshoot technical problems that may arise during scanning or quality control checks (this includes familiarity and experience with relevant hardware/software)

  • Demonstrate a high level of organization, necessary for adhering to varied protocols for multiple studies per day

  • Strong time-management skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to assess participant safety for imaging and administer emergency medical care if necessary

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Competency in ethical research conduct.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The hiring range for this position has been established at:

$48.00 to $53.00 / hour.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. Temporary employees are only eligible for sick leave benefits.
