POSITION SUMMARY:
The Engineering Design Tool Specialist is responsible for maintaining the tools and infrastructure of the engineering design and analysis teams. This includes improving and implementing workflow processes for engineering design and analysis tools, assuring data storage and access to the tools complies with Parker policies and government regulations, supporting users with tool access and processes concerns, and assuring tool stability. The Engineering Design Tool Specialist will help develop solutions as part of a team of experts and works in collaboration with engineering functions, the program office, production control, IT and the compliance functions. This is a job for a hands-on, working leader with significant technical expertise in the function of engineering design and analysis tools. This role will also support engineering systems such as multiple CAD systems, PDM and SPDM, MBD and MBSE through development, deployment and significant upgrades.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Maintain, improve and upgrade engineering tools and processes, including CAD, Analysis tools, PDM, SPDM, electronics and software development and validation tools.
* Collaborates with other business functions to assure engineering data access and storage is in compliance with government regulations, customer contracts, export rules and IT policies.
* Supports engineering data users as subject matter expert with access concerns and provides training to users as needed.
* Maintains up-to-date design tool knowledge along with associated technical standards, practices, procedures, and training programs. Drive continuous improvement in knowledge management to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the design and analysis engineering teams.
* Maintain strong internal relationships with technology development, new product introduction, and sustaining engineering organizations, as well as program management and other IPT functional team members and leaders. Collaborate closely with other shared service leaders such as trade compliance, contracts and information technology.
* Travel domestically and internationally may be required occasionally to fulfill the responsibilities.
* Assign, prioritize, and coordinate tasks among technical staff and external service providers to assure the efficient execution of engineering design projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering, Technology, Information Systems or related field, which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
* An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted for the degree requirement.
* Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through eight or more years of increasingly responsible related program administration related experience.
* Experience in aerospace or a similarly regulated industry, preferably working with component and system products for aerospace applications.
* Training and certifications in Six Sigma (DFSS, DMAIC, etc.) and Lean methodologies (including 6S) are advantageous but not required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
* Ability to work self-directed and coordinate activities and projects with small teams of specialists, engineers and designers to achieve both short- and long-term objectives. Skilled in coaching, developing, and training engineers and engineering data users, as well as fostering cultural change.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical design tools, mechanical component and system performance analysis tools, requirement managements tools and PDM tools required. Knowledge of electrical design and analysis tools, and software development and verification tools is a plus.
* Excellent communication skills to collaborate across organizations for shared success. Proven ability to coordinate with customers, suppliers, and third-party organizations, including field service teams, equipment operators, and test facilities.
* Proficiency with aerospace industry development processes, such as AS9100-compliant practices.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to operate a computer and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the employee is regular attendance, the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others and members of the public, and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.

  • Pay Range: $100300 to $159400 annually
