Senior Manager, Project Controls

Building on our past. Ready for the future.
Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Worley is seeking a Senior Manager, Project Controls who brings both strategic perspective and hands-on execution capability. This role sits at the intersection of commercial performance, project delivery, and data-driven decision making. You will help shape how projects are planned, measured, and delivered-ensuring transparency, predictability, and control across complex portfolios.

Purpose of the role

Play an integral role in driving project performance by establishing and leading robust project controls frameworks across multiple projects or programs. You will be responsible for ensuring cost and schedule integrity, enabling proactive decision-making, and aligning project execution with broader business and financial objectives.

This role operates both as a senior project leader and, where required, as a functional manager-developing capability, standardizing processes, and strengthening project controls maturity across the organization.

Core Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading project controls delivery across one or more major projects or a portfolio of concurrent projects
  • Establishing and maintaining integrated cost and schedule control systems, including work breakdown structures, baselines, and performance measurement frameworks
  • Overseeing the collection, validation, and analysis of project performance data (e.g., installed quantities, labor hours, productivity metrics)
  • Driving earned value management (EVM), forecasting, and variance analysis to provide clear, actionable insights
  • Identifying, assessing, and communicating risks, trends, and opportunities to project and executive leadership
  • Managing change control processes, ensuring all scope, cost, and schedule impacts are fully quantified and visible to stakeholders
  • Integrating project controls data with financial, accounting, and enterprise systems to support accurate reporting and forecasting
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing project controls teams, including planners, schedulers, cost engineers, and analysts
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to project directors and senior leadership, influencing decision-making through data and insight
  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of systems, tools, and processes across the project controls function
  • Ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, governance frameworks, and performance expectations

What you'll bring to the role:

  • A degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related discipline-or equivalent practical experience
  • Typically 15+ years of experience in project controls, including leadership of large-scale capital projects in energy, chemicals, or resources sectors
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost control, planning & scheduling, and performance measurement, including advanced application of earned value principles
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to connect project performance to financial outcomes and business strategy
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing resources across multiple projects or programs
  • Advanced proficiency in project controls systems, tools, and digital solutions, with the ability to troubleshoot and enhance functionality
  • A track record of influencing senior stakeholders and communicating complex information clearly and persuasively
  • Strong analytical capability, with a structured approach to problem-solving and decision-making
  • Experience implementing and improving project controls processes, governance, and reporting frameworks
  • A collaborative leadership style that fosters accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement
  • The ability to operate with autonomy, while aligning with broader organizational objectives and policies
