Location Requirement: This position requires regular on-site work at our Oxford, MA facility. We are looking for a motivated Automation Engineer Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in software-driven automation for laser manufacturing. This internship provides an exciting opportunity to work with C#-based automation software, robotics, motion control systems, and high-precision semiconductor laser assembly and testing.



As an intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to develop, troubleshoot, and enhance automated test and assembly systems, contributing directly to the efficiency and advancement of our manufacturing operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and test C#-based automation software for laser test and assembly stations
  • Work with motors, sensors, vision systems, and industrial automation equipment
  • Troubleshoot and optimize automated manufacturing processes
  • Perform data analysis and process validation to improve production efficiency
  • Document findings and contribute to software and hardware improvements

Requirements

Required Qualifications



  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field
  • Third-year student (Junior) preferred
  • Experience with object-oriented programming
  • Familiarity with data acquisition, motion control, and industrial automation concepts
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment


Preferred Qualifications



  • Basic proficiency in C# and the .NET Framework
  • Experience with Visual Studio or scientific instrumentation
  • Exposure to robotics, PLCs, or embedded systems
  • Knowledge of SQL (a plus, not required)
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, process validation, and quality tools

Pay Range:


The pay range on this posting applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location posted, the applicable range could differ. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.



Benefits Interns receive:


- Medical Insurance (BCBS Saver Plan, no company match) - eligible after 90 days of continuous employment based on scheduled hours per week.

- 401k (Age 21+ eligible after 1,000 hours of continuous employment).
