Overview

MBP is seeking an Entry-Level Forensic Accountant and Consultant to join our dispute resolution practice. MBP is looking for a professional with 0 to 2 years of experience who is eager to contribute to a growing team and is interested in forensic accounting. You will provide litigation support to attorneys, governments, contractors, and commercial entities. Whether you are working on a fraud investigation or quantifying financial damages on a billion-dollar construction project, your work will directly contribute to expert reports used in courts of law.



Responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES:

    Forensic Data Analysis: Sifting through complex financial records, bank statements, and project accounting data to identify trends or anomalies.
  • Document Review & Discovery: Assist with the processing and review of business records. This includes utilizing computer based software to review and identify factually relevant and key documents for use in analysis.
  • Damages Analysis: Assisting in the calculation of damages, cost overruns, and financial impacts related to government contracts, commercial, and construction disputes.
  • Reporting: Contributing to the drafting of high-level expert reports, memos, and visual exhibits for trial.
  • Research: This role will require broad researching capabilities such as learning and applying the frameworks of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), or researching legal rulings and filings for applicable cases.


Qualifications

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or an analytical business discipline. (CPA-eligible candidates are a plus).
  • Certifications: Working towards, or desire to obtain certifications, like becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Analytical and Technically Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential. You should be comfortable (or ready to become an expert) with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data visualization. Other computing languages and skills are also desired but not required.
