Project Designer Iplays a pivotal roleby providing designand drawingassistancefor projectsduring the developmentand as-built stages of the engineered drawings.Workson projects with varying levels of complexity includingroutine and moderate projects.Create design drawingsand prepare record drawingsand O&M manuals according to project requirements.

TheProject Designer Iis expectedto performthe role in a manner thatemulatesConvergint'score Values and Beliefs.As a Project Designer I, you are part of a dynamic team that allowsyou to grow as Convergint grows.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Provide design and drawing support for routine and moderately complex projects during both development and as-built stages of engineered drawings.


  • Obtain electronic plans and documentation from engineers, architects, owners, and/or contractors.


  • Create detailed engineered drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit in accordance with project requirements.


  • Prepare record drawings and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals per project specifications.


  • Work from rough sketches, schematics, and verbal instructions to produce accurate design documents.


  • Utilize and maintain Convergint project design, documentation, and submittal standards to ensure consistency and quality.


  • Ensure all designs adhere to relevant industry standards, codes, and AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements.


  • Support and maintain Convergint design standards and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.


  • Apply standard drafting techniques and demonstrate practical knowledge of electrical and fabrication design principles.


  • Review project scope, product specifications, and electrical requirements for code compliance and accuracy.


  • Verify bills of material (BOMs) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.


  • Participate in internal design review meetings and project turnover meetings with sales and project management teams.


  • Provide the project team with all required documentation, programming graphics, and deliverables per Convergint and project standards.


  • Obtain and coordinate necessary design information from vendors, insurance carriers, owners, consultants, and AHJs.


  • Facilitate the acquisition of project permits and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.


  • Communicate design progress, committed completion dates, scope revisions, and associated costs to the Project Manager in a timely manner.


  • Discuss anticipated overtime requirements and obtain formal authorization prior to performing change-order work.


  • Assist project teams with change-order pricing and documentation.


  • Participate in initial site surveys and walkthroughs to verify field conditions.


  • Manage assigned workload efficiently, maintaining adherence to project due dates and budgeted hours.

Education:




  • Minimum two-year technical degree in Engineering or minimum five-year related field or equivalent in low voltage experience.


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is desirable.



Experience:




  • Minimum of two years of previous design, engineering, field service or project management experience in the electronic security, fire alarm, healthcare and/or life safety industry.


  • Minimum two years' experience with AutoCAD required. REVIT experience a plus.
