Salary: $17.75 - $19.75

Position Summary: Children's Aid runs a summer day camp in Chappaqua, NY that brings together children from Manhattan, the Bronx, and Westchester. Campers and staff are bused to and from the camp each day. The purpose of this camp is to provide traditional summer camp activities (swimming, arts & crafts, sports, horsemanship, etc.) in the context of relationship building. The children who attend this camp are from different socio-economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds, and range in age from 6-13.

The Athletics Assistant is responsible for managing the Athletics Program at the summer camp with the Athletics Specialist. This Athletics Assistant must deliver a curriculum to involve campers in athletics with the expressed purpose of having fun, build teamwork and learn new things.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Implement the Athletics Program in the summer camp that includes leading activities for 4 groups of camper and specialty sessions for electives.
  • Maintain all the supplies and equipment used in the program, keeping the storage area clean.
  • Work with each group leader and the campers to engage in different athletics activities so that the campers try new things, have fun, and build teamwork.
  • Manage Field 2 and Field 3 where the athletics program is held. Monitor all the activities to ensure the safety of the campers. Deploy the group staff for good supervision.
  • Supervised by the Athletics Specialist.
  • Attend 3 days of training and orientation prior to camp.
  • Fulfill job activities not listed here important to the success of the camp.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Experience in teaching and coaching different kinds of athletic activities with large groups of children.
  • Previous experience in the design of athletic curriculum preferred.
