Salary: $18.75 - $19.75/hr

Position Summary: Children's Aid runs a summer day camp in Chappaqua, NY that brings together children from Manhattan, the Bronx, and Westchester. Campers and staff are bused to and from the camp each day. The purpose of this camp is to provide traditional summer camp activities (swimming, arts & crafts, sports, horsemanship, etc.) in the context of relationship building. The children who attend this camp are from different socio-economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds, and range in age from 6-13,

The Lifeguard is responsible to maintain the safe operation of the pool by enforcing the pool rules, buddy checks, and controlling behavior. The Lifeguard is supervised by the Water Front Director.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the safe operation of the pools under the direction of the Water Front Director.
  • Maintain all the supplies and equipment used in the program, keeping the storage area clean.
  • Keep vigilance at whatever lifeguard station assigned.
  • Participate in any in-service training offered.
  • Work with the Water Front Director to staff late afternoon and weekend programming.
  • Sup/port in swim instruction as needed.
  • Attend 3 days of training and 1 day of skill verification prior to camp.
  • Fulfill job activities not listed here important to the success of the camp.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Minimum of 16 years of age by June 2026 as required by the DOH.
  • Must have Certification in Lifeguarding, CPR for the Rescuer, and First Aid by ARC or a Nationally Recognized Agency.
  • Previous experience with children as a lifeguard or group leader preferred.
