Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a student studying mechanical or aerospace engineering to work with professional mechanical engineers to design, analyze, manufacture, assemble, and test structures and mechanisms for unmanned systems (UxS), tactical sensors, and instrumentation.
Tasks will include:
- Basic and detailed analysis of structures and mechanisms, including structural, dynamic, or thermal analysis
- 3D Printer operation
- Integration and testing of components and systems
- Reporting and presentation of results
- Program support as necessary
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a Utah State University student pursuing a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- Must have at least one year of school remaining
- Must be able to work 15-20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during summers
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision once trained
- Ability to work closely in a team with students and professionals
- Must be self-motivated and dependable, with the ability to see the job through
- Must have successfully completed an engineering graphics class
- Ability to quickly design parts using NX
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or other U.S. person
- Ability to balance work and school responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Part 107 UAS License
- Flight testing experience
- Experience with 3D printers
- Familiarity with Vibration and Shock
- Familiarity with Structures
- Familiarity with Heat Transfer
