ICT Designer - Mission Critical

HED is looking to add a talented person to our ICT team. The ICT Designer builds on foundational design knowledge to contribute to the execution of complex mission critical technology infrastructure projects.

Position Summary
As an entry-level ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Designer at HED, you will support the development of technology infrastructure and low-voltage system design for a variety of project types, including education, healthcare, commercial, and mixed-use buildings. Under direct guidance, you will learn and apply fundamental design principles and industry standards to assist in producing drawings, specifications, and documentation that integrate seamlessly with architectural and engineering designs. You will contribute to the success of project teams while building your technical foundation and developing proficiency in relevant tools and methodologies.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in preparing structured cabling, telecommunications, audio-visual, security, and data network designs based on project requirements and industry best practices
  • Support the creation of construction documentation, including design drawings, riser diagrams, schedules, and equipment layouts.
  • Collaborate with architectural and engineering teams to ensure cohesive integration of technology systems within the overall building design.
  • Conduct research on new technology products and systems to support innovation in project delivery.
  • Attend site visits and document existing conditions under supervision.
  • Participate in internal design team meetings and client coordination sessions to develop communication skills and gain exposure to project workflows.
  • Maintain awareness of project timelines and deliverable schedules.
  • Ad hoc responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Information Technology, Architectural Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 0-1 years of relevant full-time professional experience; internship or academic project experience in ICT, AV, or related disciplines preferred.
  • Familiarity with ICT systems (structured cabling, data networks, AV, security) and industry standards such as BICSI, EIA/TIA, and NEC.
  • Exposure to Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
  • Interest in building technology, coordination, and multidisciplinary design.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with a willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in-person.
  • Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
