Performance Health is seeking a Director of Business Development focused on Retail Marketplaces to join our team. As the Retail Marketplace Business Development Leader, you will drive the growth and strategic expansion of our retail marketplace. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships with brands, and optimizing our marketplace presence. Leading a dedicated team, you will work closely with cross-functional departments to enhance marketplace offerings, improve vendor relationships, and increase revenue.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to expand the retail marketplace by onboarding new brands and products through the retail and marketplace landscape.
  • Manage onboarding and launch plans for new retail partners, including promotional activation and new product introductions, ensuring cross-functional readiness and on-time execution.
  • Identify and prioritize high-value opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Set and track performance metrics to measure success and adjust strategies as needed.

Market and Competitor Analysis:

  • Conduct market research to understand industry trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Analyze performance data to drive informed decisions and identify areas for growth.

Partnership and Vendor Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key retail partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Own day-to-day retail partner management across current accounts, including assortment, pricing, content readiness, inventory/forecast alignment, promotional planning, issue resolution, and performance optimization.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Work with vendors to enhance marketplace offerings and align with strategic goals.

Platform Optimization:

  • Collaborate with relevant teams to ensure the marketplace platform is effective and meets the needs of partners and customers.
  • Lead and mentor a team of business development professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities for team members.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with marketing, operations, and product teams to align business development initiatives with overall company objectives.
  • Ensure seamless integration of marketplace activities with other business functions.

Performance Tracking and Reporting:

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to marketplace growth and performance.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, stakeholders and strategic partners.

Customer Experience Enhancement:

  • Implement strategies to enhance customer experience and increase satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related discipline
  • 5-7 years of business development experience in retail marketplaces
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in office software, with advanced Excel skills or Domo experience preferred.
  • Experience with direct interaction of clients outside of the organization
  • Experience in CPG industry preferred
  • Ability to travel 25-50% of the time, including overnight travel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to concisely summarize large amounts of data to drive decision making process
  • Self-starter with proven track record in driving results
  • Energetic and inquisitive, quick learner, takes initiative and follows through
  • Flexibility to work in a fast paced and dynamic work environment while remaining efficient
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork and partnerships

  • This is a full-time position with a base salary range of $170,000 - $190,000 and the opportunity to earn bonus, plus benefits.
