Job Description: The Fraud Recovery and Legal Processing Analyst is responsible for supporting the Bank's fraud loss mitigation efforts by executing fraud recovery activities, managing legal and lawenforcement requests, and ensuring accurate documentation and regulatory compliance. This role serves as a key operational resource in facilitating recoveries, responding to subpoenas and court orders, coordinating with internal partners, and maintaining records to support audits, examinations, and legal inquiries. SCHEDULE: This position will work 8-5 M-F in a hybrid capacity (2-3 days in office per week). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reviews, compiles, initiates, executes, and ensures timely completion of fraud recovery efforts, including but not limited to hold harmless agreements, restitution requests, UCC warranty claims, and returnwithoutentry claims. Initiates, tracks, documents, and fulfills requests to and from federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in support of fraud investigations and recovery efforts. Initiates, tracks, and monitors the documented process for restitution and associated recoveries, ensuring timely followup and accurate recordkeeping. Reviews and responds to UCC warranty breach claims involving fraud in coordination with Check Processing and ensures appropriate Fraud Alert and Investigation activities occur. Conducts weekly and monthly reviews of deposit and fraud loss budgets across multiple general ledger accounts to ensure accurate loss tracking, recovery application, and support for trend analysis and reporting to executive leadership. Responds to, compiles, tracks, and maintains all legal requests and serves as the Bank's Custodian of Records for subpoenas, summons, search warrants, seizures, and court orders, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements. Maintains complete, accurate, and welldocumented records to support audits, regulatory examinations, legal inquiries, and internal reviews. Partners with Fraud Investigations, Deposit Operations, Check Processing, Accounting, Compliance, and other internal stakeholders to support endtoend fraud recovery and legal processing activities. Identifies trends, recurring issues, or process gaps related to fraud recovery and legal processing and escalate concerns to leadership with supporting documentation. Develops, maintains, and facilitates effective working relationships with federal and state law enforcement agencies to support investigations and information sharing. Maintains a current and thorough understanding of fraud typologies, money laundering and terrorist financing risks, applicable regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends. Demonstrates strong working knowledge of BSA/AML/OFAC requirements, fraud risk management principles, and applicable UCC provisions. Navigates multiple systems and technologies while demonstrating adaptability, resilience, and attention to detail in a fastpaced environment. Works effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Applies sound analytical, problemsolving, organizational, and decisionmaking skills. Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills when interacting with customers, colleagues, management, law enforcement, and external partners. Maintains a working knowledge of bank operating environments and applicable systems, including Microsoft Office and internal casemanagement tools. Exhibits "Brilliant at the Basics" customer service skills and maintains productive relationships with customers, colleagues, management, and vendors. Provides prompt and reliable attendance to meet expected service levels for customers, coworkers, and vendors. Complies with all Gate City Bank policies, procedures, and applicable banking and legal processing laws and regulations. Maintains composure and professionalism in stressful situations, including resolving timesensitive or emotionally charged matters.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice or legal related field, or equivalent work or educational experience required, or related field desired; minimum of 3-5 years of BSA/AML/OFAC, Fraud, Legal, or Compliance experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
