The Role

The Nurse Practitioner will independently run an internal, corporate, private medical practice to provide evaluation, consultation/referral, case management and treatment for employees.

What You'll Do
  • Perform regulatory surveillance examinations including Respiratory Fit testing (RFT), DOT and Audio exams to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and OSHA standards
  • Perform pre-employment physical exams on all new candidates, pole climbing and fit for duty exams
  • Manage the operations of the on-site health office, including but not limited to maintaining the appointment schedule, ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, etc.
  • Evaluate, treat and manage the cases of occupational injuries to ensure the safety of employees and to reduce absence frequency
  • Conduct drug and alcohol testing i.e. pre-employment, random, reasonable cause to adhere to organizational, FMCSA, and PHMSA drug testing policies
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal stakeholders and external medical providers to share best practice and understand business decisions
About You
  • B.S. or higher degree in Nursing and fully qualified and licensed Nurse Practitioner required
  • 2+ years of working experience as a Nurse Practioner required
  • Board Certification - American Nurse Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners required
  • 2+ years of experience in Occupational medicine, worker's compensation and OSHA regulations, acute medical care and evaluation preferred
  • Certified in Hearing Conservation CAOHC and DOT certified medical examiner preferred
  • Current certification by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to perform Department of Transportation physical examinations preferred
  • Current COHC certification by CAOHC preferred
  • Within 3 months of hire, attainment of the following is required:
    • certification by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to perform Department of Transportation physical examinations.
    • certification as a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC)
  • Current certification as a Basic Lifesaver (BLS) provider from a training program approved by the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to provide care for injured and ill employees
  • Valid driver's license required
