Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Digital Communications Director and direction of the Digital Project & Web Operations Manager and Digital Content Strategist, this position will work closely with team members, other Public Affairs and Marketing staff, health system departments and outside agencies to support the content strategy, development and production of websites and related content in achieving institutional website goals, objectives and strategic priorities. The position serves as the primary content reviewer for websites within the health system's enterprise-wide Web content management system (CMS) with 400+ end users.
The incumbent coordinates, edits and publishes web content; supports web content strategy; manages and updates user-documentation and communications; reviews and manages websites upload requests from across the organization. The position implements and enforces digital content policies and procedures; assures digital content meets established editorial, graphic and navigation standards; reviews and proofreads content for accuracy, quality and best practices, including readability, accessibility and SEO, to maximize the effectiveness of digital communications. - Minimum of 2-4 years managing websites in a professional capacity for a medium to large-sized organization in a customer support role.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience with and demonstrated knowledge of digital content strategy best practices and SEO principles, including readability and accessibility.
- Minimum of 1-2 years professional experience creating clear, informative, accurate and relevant websites that are consistent with the organization's message and in keeping with management directives and client objectives.
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills with an emphasis on web writing, including SEO, accessibility and readability best practices. Firm grasp of standard English, including grammar and spelling, and ability to follow and apply established editorial standards.
- Proficiency in web production, image handling, publishing and design, presentation preparation, web interaction, and other digital communications capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and communicate clearly about complex topics and technical issues in an understandable manner. Excellent team and collaboration skills to work within and across teams, both within public affairs and marketing and team members in other organizational units. Interpersonal skills to foster positive working relationships in a high-stress, deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated professional experience in developing digital content that embraces and adheres to an organization's brand standards and communication style guidelines.
- Thorough understanding of user-experience principles and user-centered content creation.
- Skilled in prioritizing, multitasking, and managing multiple projects under deadlines.
- Ability to maintain composure, efficiency and a positive, customer-service-oriented manner during periods of peak workload, with frequent interruptions, under tight deadlines, and when interacting with challenging clients.
- Ability to enforce and implement website policies and standards and to maintain UC Davis Health's brand consistency.
- Ability to assist with content strategy standards, documentation, outreach and enforcement for web editors across UC Davis Health sites. Engaged in the development of the tools and processes around content standards.
- Knowledge of digital trends and user demographics to help develop tactics and strategies. Experience leveraging website analytics tools to understand trends and visitor behavior to inform website optimization plans. Ability to evaluate and research new tools and processes in the content strategy space.
- Thorough skills to develop and implement original ideas and correctly identify and effectively solve problems.
- Ability to audit sites across UC Davis Health platforms to ensure the best content development and presentation for target audiences.
- Ability to assist in user testing of new and updated CMS features with attention to detail and ability to documentation skills.
- Ability to gain thorough knowledge of UC Davis, including its achievements, mission, goals, vision, infrastructure and products and services. Ability to interpret and apply all relevant University of California, UC Davis and UC Davis Health policies and procedures, in addition to laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy rights, copyrights and public information.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing/communication/journalism or related field and/or equivalent experience and training.
- Familiarity and experience working directly with HTML code outside of a WYSIWYG environment and/or interest and aptitude to learn HTML.
- Demonstrated experience with and understanding of enterprise-wide digital content and project management systems, tools and other web technologies, especially OpenText Teamsite, SiteImprove, Wrike, Adobe Analytics and Creative Suite, SEO and schema tools, etc.
