Wieland is hiring a Rolling Mill Operator. The Rolling Mill Operator (Level 1) will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating the RM-1 Rolling Mill with a team member (Operator 2) using established metallurgical guidelines. The
operator must assist with maintaining a production schedule for the equipment that includes processing material, material handling, tooling changeovers, and PM's. This role is located in Wheeling, IL, and will be fully on-site.

Hourly Pay Range: $21/hr to $26/hr

Work Schedule: 1st shift - 6 AM to 2 PM

Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly

Responsibilities

Rolling Mill Operator Responsibilities:

1. Work independently and as part of a team with safety as the number one priority. Properly follow
company and OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the attention of the Supervisor, Safety or
HR.
2. Safely operating the equipment on and around RM1 including coil changeovers, roll changes (work &
backup), monitoring the quality of material running, and basic maintenance. Material handling.
3. Loading and unloading coils on machine.
4. Setting up the equipment for production
5. Following & adjusting schedule developed by the Planning Dept.
6. Frontline line trouble shooting of RM-1 and its associated equipment / Communicating needs
/issues to the Production Mgmt. & Maintenance Dept. as they arise
7. Performing in-process inspection, preparing and visually inspecting samples for QA; Reduce scrap
and monitor material quality
8. Crosstrain in other areas of the Production Dept. and train other employees as RM1 Operator-1
9. Ensure a safe and environmentally responsible plant according to the applying regulations and
maintain a safe, clean & organized work area
10. Maintain 5S improvements
11. Cooperate with other areas to continuously improve quality, machine uptime, efficiency and
productivity


Rolling Mill Operator Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or equivalent is required
2. Previous experience with heavy metals or similar type of manufacturing required.
3. Ability to work with calipers, micrometers, and other types of testing equipment required
4. Ability to work under pressure with high stress levels required.
5. Maintain production schedule
6. Monitor material quality, including flatness, gauge, hardness, grain size, and surface finish
7. Must be able to learn and safely operate an overhead crane, forklift, and pallet Jacks. (motorized
and manual.)
8. Willing to work on short notice, volunteer overtime, and/or required overtime as needed.
9. Ensure proper identification of coils and samples

10. Achieve production throughput, yield, and scrap goals
11. Maintain a positive attitude in a team environment

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the
essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities
to perform the essential functions.
12. Involves periods of standing, walking, and negotiating stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks, and platforms in hot
or cold production environment on slippery surfaces for the purpose of directing operations and evaluating
situations.
13. Personal Protective Equipment (e.g., safety glasses, electrostatic discharge jacket, earplugs, etc.)
14. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Maximum
