Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to provide support for the network infrastructure for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is a full-time position.



Responsibilities

    Develop and deploy network architectures that integrate on-premises infrastructure with cloud environments, ensuring seamless connectivity and security.
  • Configure and manage Fortinet firewalls to protect cloud and on-premises network resources, implementing advanced security policies and access controls.
  • Ensure network security measures comply with industry standards and organizational policies and conduct regular audits and assessments.
  • Set up and maintain monitoring solutions to track network performance and identify areas for optimization, both on-premises and in the cloud. Utilizes software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose complex problems and factors affecting network performance.
  • Lead the response to network incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Work on the integration of existing on-premises networking solutions with cloud-native services, ensuring interoperability and efficient operation.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, and security policies.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams, including security, cloud, and application teams, to ensure network solutions meet business and technical requirements.
  • Stay updated with the latest networking technologies and trends, evaluating new solutions for potential integration into the existing infrastructure.


Qualifications

10+ years experience in network administration or engineering. Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related field. Current relevant technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network +, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE) strongly desired. Able to establish and maintain network performance by building network configurations and connections, troubleshooting network problems, and programming routers, switches and firewalls. Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be detail-oriented with a focus on quality and compliance. Able to manage multiple projects and adapt to new technologies. Strong documentation skills and a commitment to scalable, maintainable engineering practices. Must be a US Citizen.
