HJF is seeking an Intern to support the Security Operations Center (SOC). The Intern's work will involve assisting with a variety of cybersecurity and security monitoring activities focused on identifying, analyzing, and responding to security events across the enterprise. The Intern will provide technical support in areas such as security data collection, log review, incident documentation, and basic analysis of security alerts. Responsibilities may also include assisting with vulnerability tracking, maintaining security metrics, and supporting the interpretation and reporting of security data under the guidance of SOC analysts.

This position will be in support of the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.


  • Assist with monitoring security alerts and logs using SOC tools and dashboards,.
  • Support incident documentation, ticketing, and basic triage activities under analyst supervision.
  • Help collect, organize, and analyze security-related data and metrics.
  • Assist with vulnerability tracking, remediation followup, and security reporting.
  • Support SOC operations by maintaining documentation, playbooks, and standard procedures.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of alert and log analysis.
  • Technical learning aptitude.
  • Strong communication skills.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The hourly pay range for this position is $17.65-$23.32. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.

Employment with HJF is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, contacting your professional references, verification of previous employment, education and credentials, a criminal background check, and a department of motor vehicle (DMV) check if applicable. Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior approval of the Chief Human Resources Officer.
