As a Senior Engineer, you will draw on your solid technical foundation and industry experience to support a business that powers communities and drives critical energy infrastructure.

What you will do:

  • Provide SME consultation to maintenance technicians and leaders on a broad range of operating assets related to compressor station equipment including natural gas fired turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating engines, pumps, and compressors, boilers, heat exchangers, valves, control systems and other ancillary equipment
  • Provide technical consultation to non-operations partners within Enbridge including Asset Management, Facilities Integrity, Operational Compliance, Regulatory, Legal, Business Development, Commercial, Safety, Reliability, Environmental and others
  • Asset project managers by providing SME input for scope definition, cost estimating and budgeting, and scheduling for compressor station projects
  • Provide support and direction for the design, construction, installation, replacement, repair, and operation of company compressor stations, ancillary equipment, and controls equipment
  • Produce project and equipment specific design information, bills of material, material listing sheets, and technical evaluations for compressor station equipment
  • Review vendor quotations and bids for technical accuracy, feasibility, and cost competitiveness, make recommendations for procurement and approve design work for drawings and technical reports
  • Recognize and evaluate operational problems and other complex technical challenges, classify risk, and provide solutions and timelines for risk mitigation
  • Conduct reviews and provide approval of engineering designs and changes as part of the Management of Change (MOC) Process.
  • Provide and recommend training for Tech Staff employees and field technicians and assist in the coordination of technician meetings as required
  • Lead Technical Staff for design reviews with the Projects Organization and external customers for review and approval of design criteria and construction drawing packages.
  • Reviews and approves fabrication and assembly approval drawings for pressure vessels, engineered equipment, and other fabrications (prefabricated buildings, piping fabrications, pig trap barrels, etc.)
  • Assists with the commissioning of newly installed facilities when required
  • Reviews lessons learned from past projects and incorporates recommendations into future designs
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the team
  • Support department initiatives as required

Who you are:

You have:

  • 10+ years of experience along with a bachelor's degree in engineering in addition to an acceptable driving record that will be verified upon hire
  • Broad business and technical knowledge in resolving problems, project management, finding opportunities, and has a keen awareness of interrelationships with other collaborators

You can:

  • Show demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer applications such as Word, Excel SharePoint, SAP, and Electrical/Controls specific programs
  • Work independently with limited supervision, managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks accordingly while adapting to changing project types, conditions and workloads
  • Work well under critical situations handling time sensitive work and solving problems using standards, modification of standards and/or previous experience

You are:

  • An excellent written and verbal communicator who can communicate technical issues and impacts to other technical and non-technical staff
  • Able to manage, set priorities, and establish goals as well as work effectively with others in a team environment while showing your ability to initiate and lead change, be innovative and think strategically

The following are considered assets:

  • Natural gas pipeline design experience for onshore transmission lines in the U.S
  • Working knowledge of industry codes (ASME B31.8, 49CFR192 (DOT Code), ASME BPVC Sect. VIII)
  • Familiarity/knowledge of materials standards and specs (ANSI Ratings, ASME, API, MSS, etc.)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation in the US in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or desire to obtain)

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in typical office environment 75-90% of the time with 10-25% of the time being spent in the field scoping projects or supporting construction and commissioning activities which will require travel via plan and vehicle

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
