POSITON SUMMARY:
The Cook is responsible for the preparation and serving of meals for the residents, for cooking a variety of foods that ensure the highest quality and resident satisfaction, maintains cleanliness of food services area. Supervises the kitchen staff in the absence of Manager or Lead Cook.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Appliessanitation and safety techniques while working.
  • Responsiblefor all kitchen activities in the absence of the Food Service Director/Lead Cook.
  • Prepares,cooksmeals according to menus and recipes and adheres to all diets.
  • Measuresand mixes food ingredients according to recipes and menus, preparing all types of food according to accepted food production methods and regulatory requirements.
  • Practicesand appliesportioncontrolduring preparation and serviceofalldiets.
  • Performscleaning andmaintenanceof kitchen facility andequipment according to schedules, and procedures.Maintainslogs.
  • Communicatesand changes or substitutionson daily menusto supervisor.
  • Ensuresproperlabeling,dating androtation of foods in all storage areas.
  • Worksin accordance withsafety guidelinesestablishedby the communitywith emphasis on the use of proper body mechanics and safe work practices.
  • Familiarwith food service disaster plan.

                          QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school graduate or GED.




                              Training and Experience: Must have one to two years' recent experience as a cook. ServSafe certification.

                              Knowledge and Abilities:

                              Must have knowledge of safe foodhandlingand preparation. Must have knowledge of good practices to avoid waste and misuse.Must have the ability to present foods in an attractive and palatable manner and to test quality of food by taste and smell.Must have a broad knowledge of breakfast,lunchand dinner entree preparation. Must have a broad knowledge of scratch soups, sauces/gravies,starchesand vegetables.

                              The final candidate must successfully pass Eskaton's post offer, pre-employment testing which includes a criminal background check, drug test, TB screen test and health screen. All new hires are required to sign an arbitration agreement as a condition of employment.
