Summary: Coordination of all inbound/outbound shipments of finished goods ensuring a smooth and consistent operation and the effective and efficient preparation of shipping documentation as needed to satisfy internal and external customer requirements. Plans, organizes, and monitors the storage and distribution of all items received either from suppliers or production plants so supplies are located and distributed to Plant Departments in an effective and efficient manner. Duties:
- Consistently promote safety in department. Lead team in building a safety culture by maintaining safety on the floor, enforcing regulations, coaching, and mentoring employees on best practices for working safely. Prepare incident reports, investigate injuries/incidents, and complete Five Whys for incidents/near misses.
- Employee relations, coaching, counseling, discipline and training.
- Prepares performance evaluations for team members and provides ongoing performance feedback.
- Ensures all that safety, GMP, and housekeeping requirements are met. Identifies safety or maintenance problems and generates work orders.
- Leads quality improvement efforts and ensures that quality standards are met.
- Responsible for tracking inventory of all packaging and raw materials by auditing and/or completing visual cycle counts, system comparisons, and required measurements & calculations.
- Responsible for monthly raw material inventory prep, counts, and discrepancy audits as directed. Responsible for quarterly FG physical inventory.
- Communicate with management team/SLT regarding inventory issues, Resin, Color, labels, foam, foil, and other items deemed important.
- Communicate with customer service, Quality, scheduling, and shipping, as required.
Requirements:
- 5-7 years of inventory control required or equivalent.
- Demonstrated skill with a manufacturing systems/inventory control database package required; proficiency with our system, ProTraQ, E1, or similar preferred.
- Experience with MRP purchasing required.
- 1-3 years Supervisory experience required.
- Availability to work overtime as required or directed by Supply Chain Manager.
- Understanding invoices, bill of materials, and manufacturing processes is a plus.
- AS Degree in related field preferred or equivalent. Bachelor's degree
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
- Ability to facilitate as well as work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent attention to detail required.
- Ability to communicate effectively concerning customer orders, scheduling, shipments, stock availability and general production concerns, over phone, and email. Will work with other Silgan plants and Manufacturers on needs and supply.
- Must communicate with Warehouse and Production on completed work orders for material movement to/from plant and warehouse.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 lb. boxes/buckets to a height of six feet.
- Must be able to work in extreme climates in summer and winter on the rail siding.
- Certified to drive forklift, scissor lift, and pallet jack
