Position Responsibilities

Deltek is building its first internal data science capability, and we're looking for an Associate Data Scientist to grow with us as we bring advanced analytics to our B2B SaaS business. You'll work alongside a small, talented team to turn business questions into analytical insights, support model development and evaluation, and help connect technical work to the people and decisions it's meant to serve.

This role is a great fit for someone early in their career who combines a solid foundation in data science and machine learning with strong communication instincts and genuine curiosity about business problems. You'll be expected to build: models, analyses, and the understanding of business context that makes that work land.

Data Science & Analysis

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to understand customer behavior patterns, data quality, and modeling readiness
  • Conduct statistical analyses to validate business hypotheses and quantify relationships in customer and product data
  • Support development and evaluation of supervised learning models including customer health scoring, churn prediction, upsell/cross-sell propensity, and lead scoring- Contribute to feature engineering, model validation, and documentation of analytical approaches and results
  • Work within our Snowflake data platform, writing SQL to explore, extract, and prepare data for analysis
Communication & Business Partnership
  • Translate analytical findings into clear, accessible presentations and visualizations for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Partner with business stakeholders across Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Marketing to understand needs and frame analytical questions
  • Explain data science concepts, model outputs, and limitations to business leaders without requiring them to understand the math
  • Document findings, assumptions, and recommendations in formats that build organizational trust and enable future work
  • Facilitate conversations between business and technical teams to align on priorities and define success metrics
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with senior data scientists and the director to support end-to-end analytical workstreams
  • Contribute to team practices, knowledge sharing, and internal documentation as the function grows
  • Collaborate with our Enterprise Data & Intelligence team to leverage and improve the modern data stack (Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran)
  • Support the team's engagement with Deltek's AI Center of Excellence on integration opportunities

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Analytics, Business, Computer Science, or related quantitative field
  • Solid understanding of machine learning concepts: supervised/unsupervised learning, model evaluation, feature engineering, training vs. scoring
  • Foundational statistical fluency: hypothesis testing, regression, correlation, confidence intervals
  • SQL experience sufficient for data exploration, transformation, and feature extraction
  • Strong communication skills: you can explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and business problems to technical teammates
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action in a greenfield environment
  • Collaborative instincts and the ability to build relationships across teams and seniority levels
  • US Citizenship is required for this role.
Preferred
  • Exposure to enterprise data warehouses or cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
  • Familiarity with SaaS business metrics: ARR, churn, NRR, customer lifetime value, expansion revenue
  • Understanding of the SaaS customer lifecycle: acquisition, onboarding, adoption, expansion, renewal
  • Previous experience in consulting, business analysis, client-facing analytics, or stakeholder management
  • Experience with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau
  • Background in product analytics, customer analytics, or subscription business models
  • Familiarity with Python and core ML libraries (scikit-learn, pandas, numpy)
