Nurse Manager, AC - Duke Urgent Care Hillsborough

Duke Urgent Care Hillsborough provides prompt, compassionate care for patients of all ages with minor injuries and illnesses, including sprains, cuts, flu symptoms, and infections. The clinic also offers sports physicals, limited employment physicals, and routine vaccinations. The team operates in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure setting, while maintaining a close-knit, collaborative environment. What you will do:

The Nurse Manager, Ambulatory provides clinical and operational leadership for nursing and patient care services in one or more ambulatory clinics. This role is responsible for ensuring high standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence in alignment with DUHS policies and service line goals. The Nurse Manager reports to the Practice Administrator to integrate both overall clinic and nursing priorities into operational workflows, promote quality improvement initiatives, and support provider teams. This role actively participates in strategic planning, resource allocation, and change management efforts within the assigned clinics.

Clinical Operations Management



  • Provide leadership and oversight for clinical practice in assigned ambulatory clinic(s), ensuring evidence-based, high-quality care.
  • Partner with operational and clinical leaders to align staffing, workflows, and processes that support patient access, flow, and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention standards.


Serve as a resource and liaison for patients, staff, and providers regarding nursing and operational matters.

Strategic Planning & Program Development



  • Participate in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of ambulatory services and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in budget development and monitoring, including labor and supply resources; identify efficiency and cost-containment opportunities.


Personnel Management & Development



  • Supervise and evaluate clinic staff, including administrative, nursing, and support personnel.


Support onboarding, orientation, competency validation, and ongoing professional development of staff.

Patient & Family-Centered Care



  • Promote a patient- and family-centered care environment that supports safety, quality, and positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with providers and staff to address patient concerns and support effective service recovery.


Customer Service & Communication



  • Foster a culture of excellent customer service throughout clinic operations.
  • Promote effective communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution among patients, staff, and providers.

Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required. Master's degree in Nursing strongly preferred.



Experience



  • Three years of nursing experience is required.



Degrees, Licensures, Certifications



  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BCLS certification required
  • Nurses hired into leadership positions must obtain a leadership certification within three months of hire
  • New nurse leaders who are ineligible to sit for an exam because they have not been working in a leadership role for the minimum amount of time required must complete their certification within three months of becoming eligible
