3D Designer

Note: This role requires 5 days onsite in either Playa Vista, CA, San Bruno, CA, or Bentonville, AR.

Aquent is seeking an entry-level 3D Designer to join our client's in-house creative agency. The team develops breakthrough and distinctive omnichannel brand design systems that meet customer needs and drive business objectives while keeping a global brand relevant in culture. We use creativity and design to make our brand an obvious choice for all.

We are seeking a curious, self-starting designer with a strong foundation in 3D SketchUp modeling (0-2 years of experience) who is eager to grow their career in retail and physical environment design. This is a support role designed for someone who is technically sound in 3D basics and excited to learn how emerging AI tools can accelerate professional creative workflows.

Working alongside seasoned design leadership, this role will support the visualization and prototyping of next-generation retail environments. You will help bring store concepts to life through 3D modeling, floorplan support, and rapid prototyping, while gaining hands-on mentorship in AI-assisted design.

Collaboration & Support

• Support the ideation and visualization of store design systems that improve customer experience.
• Assist in the development of category floorplans, service spaces, and in-store storytelling moments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architecture, fixture design, and production in a high-energy support capacity.
• Willingly incorporate feedback and iterate quickly to meet project deadlines.

3D Design & Craft

• Build foundational 3D models in SketchUp, spatial concepts, and perspective sketches for retail environments.
• Draft basic floorplans and site layouts that accurately reflect design intent and scale.
• Produce clean renderings and presentation materials that communicate creative ideas clearly.
• Maintain organized design files and version control.

AI Exploration & Innovation

• Show an active interest in Generative AI tools (e.g., Midjourney, DALL*E, Firefly) and how they can speed up mood boarding and concepting.
• Support the team in documenting effective prompt approaches and new AI workflows.
• Willingly experiment with AI-generated outputs, learning how to refine them through traditional 3D modeling and post-production polish.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in environmental design, interior design, industrial design, or a related field.
• Experience: 0-2 years of experience in 3D design (internships or relevant school projects included).
• Software Proficiency: Strong foundational skills in SketchUp (modeling and basic rendering) are required. Familiarity with AutoCAD or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
• Spatial Thinking: A solid understanding of scale, perspective, and how to read/create basic floorplans.
• Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating 3D visualization skills, a clean design aesthetic, and a clear creative process.
• Mindset: A massive "eagerness to learn" and a high level of comfort working in a supportive, fast-paced team environment.
• Tech Curiosity: No prior AI expertise is required, but you must be genuinely interested in emerging technologies and willing to learn how to use AI as a creative accelerator.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $35.00/hr to $41.00/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
