A.I.S., Inc. (AIS)is a national scientific services firm supporting maritime activities requiring certification of compliance with environmental regulations as well as collecting data for use by Federal, State, Municipal, and other government agencies along the US coastline. We are looking for an experienced HR professional to join our growing organization.

Primary Function:

The Human Resources Generalist will play a critical role in supporting AIS's human capital operations, with a strong emphasis on recruiting coordination, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and payroll support. This position ensures a seamless employee lifecycle experience, from hire through separation, while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory requirements and internal standards.

This role also provides direct support to bi-weekly payroll processing and serves as a key contributor to HR operations, data integrity, and employee support services.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Coordinate full-cycle onboarding, including offer letters, new hire documentation, system setup (ADP, BambooHR, benefits platforms), and orientation support
  • Maintain accurate employee records and process personnel changes (e.g., compensation, transfers, status updates) across HRIS and payroll systems
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, life events, open enrollment, terminations, and COBRA compliance
  • Support bi-weekly payroll processing in ADP Workforce Now, ensuring data accuracy and timely submissions
  • Assist with workers' compensation claims administration, including reporting, documentation, and employee support during leave of absence
  • Manage offboarding processes, including separation documentation, benefits termination, and system updates
  • Generate HR reports and track key metrics such as headcount, certifications, and compliance requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies
  • Participate in HR and administrative meetings and contribute to process improvement and standardization initiatives
  • Perform other duties as required


Compensation: Candidates will be paid an hourly rate to be negotiated, and total compensation will vary depending on candidates' depth of experience. This is a full-time position. AIS benefits package includes health and dental insurance, vacation, sick and holiday benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 0-2 years of relevant HR experience
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite
  • Familiarity with virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams)
  • Working knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • ADP payroll processing experience
  • Familiarity with E-verify process
