We are currently hiring a Coating Engineer in our Ramsey, MN location!

Salary Range: $110K+

What you'll do:

  • Contribute to development and optimization of wet chemical coating processes and materials for improved lens performance and functionality (e.g., organic siloxane and sol-gel chemistry).
  • Support development of physical vapor deposition processes and coating structures, including optical modeling and characterization.
  • Execute laboratory experiments independently and as part of cross-functional project teams.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data; prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including project management, engineering, quality, and manufacturing.
  • Participate in technical reviews and contribute to project updates.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Materials Science, Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific/technical field required; MS preferred.
  • 2-5 years of relevant industry or advanced research experience.
  • Background in optics, coatings, thin films, or polymer physics preferred.
  • Experience with wet coating processes (dip coating, spray, slot die) and/or physical vapor deposition (electron beam evaporation, sputtering) preferred.
  • Experience in measurement and interpretation of rheological properties of coating fluids is desirable.
  • Familiarity with materials characterization techniques such as SEM, DMA, DSC, Raman spectroscopy, spectroscopic ellipsometry, or related tools.
  • Familiarity with analytical modeling related to mechanical, thermal, or fluid mechanics behavior in coating systems.
  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies.
  • Exposure to optical thin-film modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with analytical modeling related to mechanical, thermal, or fluid mechanics behavior in coating systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% (national and international)
